Unit 8 Andra Mihailecu (cls.a X-a C) Twilight by Stephenie Meyer Honestly. This is literally the most overrated book I've ever read. I can't seem to wrap my mind as to how people think this is actually a good piece of literature. First, it seems that Meyer abuses of her Thesaurus way too often, always jumping at the opportunity to describe things (like her precious and perfect Edward) with unnecessary adjectives, which results in Twilight dripping with annoying flowery prose. The whole book seems to have been written by an amateur (honestly, even I can do better than this, and I'm not a writer), half of it consisting in Meyer describing Edward's perfection, instead of, you know, actually telling a story. At last, there’s the vampire factor. As much as I love the supernatural and always keep an open-mind when it comes to difference in myths and stuff… Honestly, sparkling vampires? Sure, the idea is original, I’ll give her that. The problem is that Meyer herself claimed her vampires are SCIENTIFIC vampires. There are so many biology/physics/factual/anything FAILS in the book that made me face palm several times. If you want to make vampires sparkle, then fine. Just don’t come saying that it’s because they’re based on science. That’s just stupid. Ugh. If any of it seems confusing, it’s because Twilight has messed with my brain. There’s only so much I can take. I would not reccomend this book. The writing style is also very flawed, and badly
