That should be the highest priority being a president and in this situation it wasn’t. The tariff of 1828 was also an example of one of Jackson’s undemocratic actions. Also called the “Tariff of Abominations” no one agreed with it. Jackson had placed taxes on all foreign goods but the south was upset because they rely heavily on imports. This was undemocratic because he went against what the people wanted and this was unfair.

In my opinion the arguments made against the government’s way they misled the public were true and interesting. The government having not told Tillman’s family the truth up front I believe was a cowardly thing to do. The way the Bush administration portrayed him out to be a hero, in which I believe he was, he shouldn’t have been made out to be more heroic than any one of his fellow soldiers. Just because Tillman was a NFL football player shouldn’t have given him any more starlight than other soldier who also gave up their lives to fight for this country.
Shipler in his essay “Jefferson Is America and America Is Jefferson,” Jefferson represents the most powerful contradiction of American society, because his declaration of individual liberty showed the brilliance of his extraordinary mind but also he claims that black people are inferior. Shipler considers that Jefferson had a deep understanding but at the same time he was such an ignorant person about what was happen, at that time concerning liberty and slavery. Slavery was a contradictory subject in Jefferson’s life. Although he was a defender for individual freedom and at one point he was against of slavery in America, but he owned slaves throughout his life. He was a politician that would speak out about slavery but would still employ slaves for his own use.

The deviation from the Brotherhood’s intelligence or scientific approach is the main cause of the internal conflict. Perhaps, the author just wants to be free, saying whatever he feels to be right and careless about following a standard. “I could glimpse the possibility of being more than a member of a race.” (308) The author has devoted himself to the betterment of his people, either by going to college/ accepting the white way of life or speaking in front of other people.
This shows disloyalty towards his people who are very loyal to him. Through these points, it is evident that Odysseus lacks the necessary traits of a true hero. Superficially, his victories and valor make him seem as though he is heroic. Yet, the underlying issue is that Odysseus tends to be selfish, disloyal and cowardly. By the end of his journey the many occurrences of his flaws outshine his perceived heroic qualities.
