I’m a travel writer of a high-profile UK Travel Magazine, being invited by a South East Tourism organisation to visit The Titanic Experience and Spike Island in Cobh, as tourist attractions. First of all, what are the accesses from Cork City to Cobh? Well, there is several of ways of doing it: 1. Rail – an hourly commuter train travelling from Cork to Cobh, and the other way around, this takes proximally 25 minutes and is offered by Irish Rail Services. 2. Road – Car/Taxi/Coach, options are available. It takes around 30 minutes. 3. Ferry – to Cobh does not go directly from the City, but is 8-9 kilometres off in Ringaskiddy Port. Prices from 4-8 euro and the journey can take 4 minutes. After arriving to Cobh, I’ve got a great impression of it, not long it took to find the Titanic Experience site, nearby Kennedy Pier, main road. Located in the original offices of The White Star Line, this location marks 100 years since departure of 123 passengers who boarded the Titanic. As I entered the building, my group got presented with boarding tickets, just like the Queenstown passengers back in 1912. We met our tour guide soon enough, she divided us into 3 groups and explained what we in for. So it began, we got introduced to a innovative audio visual technology, which brought Edward John Smith the 4th captain of Titanic to life through holographic imagery. He welcomed us as we walked towards the cinematic projection set. A short film was played. We left and made our entrance to the deck, an audio message was played, talking about the Titanic infrastructure. It led us going inside to the First and Third class scene sets, with a detailed explanation of it. Another short film followed in the hall room, which showed us the catastrophe, where the Titanic sank. It was done with computerised graphics.
