It mates early in March and early April. Their gestation last 52 days with litters averaging seven pups but can have as many as 15 pups. The Arctic fox can be found in Northern and western Alaska, Northern Canada, northeast Alberta, northern Manitoba, northern Quebec, Russia, and Greenland. The arctic fox live mostly up North but there have been records that indicate the presence of the arctic fox down south. In the summer the arctic fox lives in the tundra at the edge of forest, while in the winter it can be found on ice floes where its white coat serves as camouflage.
The species is adapted to a cool climate and has thick fur which grows up to 7.5 cm long in winter. Their coat is paler than other leopard subspecies, and turns lighter during the winter months to allow for camouflage in the snow. Males generally weigh 32-48 kg, but can weigh up to 75 kg. Females are smaller than the males at 25-43 kg. In the wild, they typically live for 10-15 years and they may reach 20 years in captivity.
In warmer areas mating could take place as early as May or June. And in more colder area it could be delayed till July or early August. The female will mate with 1 or 2 males every breeding season. Black bears "breeding style" is very similar to the canine way. The eggs will stay in the mothers uterus until after hibernation which is around late February and March.
The doe can fight the predator or get the predator to chase the mother instead of the fawn! White-tailed deer are born in May or on into early June. A young doe can mate her first year if she chooses, but she can only have one little deer her first year because her body can only support one. Since white-tailed deer can reproduce at such a young age population is very high. Many female deer like to be alone during birth so they find somewhere quiet.
WILDLIFE IN THE TAIGA: The taiga holds many endangered species including the grizzly bear, the Siberian crane, the wood bison, the Siberian tiger and the beaver. Plants besides the evergreens include the Balsalmic fir, the Black spruce, the Douglas fir, the Eastern red cedar, the Jack pine and many more. Because of the extreme cold and low precipitation (12-33 inches per year),in the taiga, the plants have a hard time surviving. The taiga has soil similar to the tundra’s. Many animals use the trees here for shelter including the bald eagle, our national bird.
These measurements show that the present Amur tiger is longer than the Bengal tiger and the African lion. [6] According to modern research of wild Siberian tigers in Sikhote-Alin, an average adult male of more than 35 months of age weighs 176.4 kg (389 lb), the average asymptotic limit being 222.3 kg (490 lb); an adult tigress weighs 117.9 kg (260 lb). The mean weight of historical Siberian tigers is supposed to be higher: 215.3 kg (475 lb) for male tigers and 137.5 kg (303 lb) for females. [7] In May 2011, a male called "Banzai" weighing 207 kg (456 lb) was radio-collared. This individual is heavier but smaller in size than a previously radio-collared male.
Wolves are the largest members of the canine family. Which includes, foxes, cyotes, jackals, domestic dog, and other wild dog. There are three kinds of wolf such as the Grey wolf, Red wolf, and the abyssinian wolf. The Greaty wolf has a slender coat and are grey on its head and whole body the inside of it's ears are white and the tips of it's ears are black and so is the tail along with white and grey. The red wolf is red with red tiped ears and a white have a white stomach only eighty of them are still alive in southern Africa.
Largest in North America, the gray wolf can range in different colors depending on which forest of Tundra they range upon. They can live up to ten to eighteen years and average the length of 102-163 cm. An adult may even weigh in up to 85-115 pounds, but smaller is the female weighing 50 to 100 pounds. Considered the world’s most natural villain, the gray wolf has rarely ever attacked humans. However, they may take it upon them to attack our everyday domesticated animals like our dogs, rabbits, cats, or even our livestock, which can cause tragedy because then they are trapped and shot.
The animals in the alpine biome are usually the warm blooded animals which accumulate layers of fat to insulate their bodies. The insects and some, very few cold blooded animals are usually hibernating or living under ground (Global Environment). This area has animals such as alpaca, mountain goats, chinchillas, condors, various insects, wolves, and arctic fox. Alpine biomes occupy high-mountain summits, ridges, and slopes above timberline. Because the alpine zone is present only on mountains, much of the landscape is rugged and broken, with rocky, snowcapped peaks, cliffs, and talus slopes, but also contains areas of gently rolling to almost flat topography (Biomes of the World).
It will often make their homes in abandoned prairie dog burrows. The life cycle of a black footed ferret is they mate in March and April. The female will have a litter of 3 to 5 kits 41 days after mating in a
