Charlotte Torlo is a Commercial Manager for a Charity that manages two venues. Her role involves generating revenue for the charity by marketing the venues to both private and corporate companies and then event managing the booking from the contract through to overseeing the event happening on the day till the end. Charlotte first began working at the Charity as an administration assistant for the technical department while looking for a job in journalism. She loved the event environment and decided to work her way up, so she worked as a Technical Co-ordinator, which gave her the customer-facing experience she needed to transfer into event management as she also hasn’t done any of the event management courses. She loves the fact that her job is not monotonous overseeing different types of events such as conferences, dinners, exhibitions, evening events and more. She is responsible for business development, responding to enquiries and conducting site tours. On the day of an event, her role entails looking after the event and meeting the client’s needs and also manages the operations team. She has no set hours in a working day.
