The stages are from infant to child, adolescence to adult, and parent to grandparent and with each new baby the cycles starts over. There has been years and years of research on aging, articles written and theories made, all on how we age, why we age and the way we act or are supposed to act when we become older. In this task, I am going to be outlining the possible effects of dementia on an individual’s health and quality of life. I am going to do this by using a case study which has been introduced to me in which I have fully understood it. The case study which I am going to be using is called ‘Alzheimer’s Case Study, Sylvia’. Sylvia is a 73 year old woman who is a widow and suffers from Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia and affects the way the brain functions and the behaviour of an individual.

It further explained that life satisfaction has been measured in relation to economic standing, amount of education, experiences and the people’s residence. Encyclopedia on Health and Aging, 2007:540, uses subjective well-being, quality of life and life satisfaction interchangeably which refers to how individuals evaluate their overall existence.
