As few as two letters and a point of punctuation lets observers uncover your past or present. “Ms.” leaves the mystery of a woman’s marital status. Whereas the surnames “Mrs.” or “Miss” state whether said woman has been married before and can provide a brief summary on her values based on how she chooses to be addressed. The surname “Dr.” lets one know a woman’s occupation, thus leading to an expectation of her personality. Tannen
This is what makes me believe that the text is critical and wants to portray how such a woman tries to redeem herself by giving examples and justifications throughout the text. The text makes it seem like having more than three husbands is a crime. The prologue begins with Dame Alison justifying her actions early by making reference to Cane of Galilee. Also to defend her position, she refers to various people who had multiple wives. She state that King Solomon “hadde wives many oon.” She questions the bible and ask why women cannot marry more than one but men can have many wives.

In your response, make detailed reference to Aung San Suu Kyi’s speech and at least ONE other speech set for study. The concluding statements of the speeches set for study influence my judgments of the speeches studied as it leaves the final impression on the reader. The speech “Keynote address at the Beijing World Conference on Women” given by Aung San Suu Kyi in 1995 focuses on the role of women in society, government and politics to “struggle for justice and peace”. The speech “Spotty Handed Villainesses” presented by Margaret Atwood provides an insight in regards to Atwood’s view on women and how they are presented in literature. Aung San Suu Kyi’s speech provides an insight about the role of women in the government and within the country’s political fields.
What a wife it would be When a reader first looks at Brady’s essay one might think it was written by a man. However after reading the first paragraph the reader will realize that the author is indeed a woman and may be confused as to why the title is “Why I Want A Wife”. By listing the many examples of a wife’s responsibilities, she hopes to sway a woman or man’s feelings and encourages them to perhaps modify the usual tradition of marriage and companionship. The audience she has chosen would most likely be women or married couples.

According to Kari Meyers Skredsvig, the core argument of the second wave was for equality, not only in the home but also in the workplace (Skredsvig par. 3). This wave also dealt with deeper issues in literature like sexuality and reproductive rights. In these two periods women around the world expressed their frustration with inequality and sexual frustration.
