2/ Take these points and write an essay about Sri Lanka The country I live in is Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is an Island. It is situated in the Indian Ocean, close to the southern tip of India. It is a beautiful country, known as the pearl of the Indian Ocean. The former name of Sri Lanka was Ceylon Majority of the people living in Sri Lanka are Sinhala people and the other ethnic groups are comprised of Tamil, Muslim and Burgher. The main religion is Buddhism and the other religions in Sri Lanka are Christianity, Hinduism and Islam The staple diet of the Sri Lankans is rice. The major commercial crops are tea, rubber, and coconut. We export them and earn foreign exchange. The highest mountain in Sri Lanka is Piduruthalagala and the longest river is Mahaweli river . The population of Sri Lanka is about twenty million. Land area of sri lanka is 24996 sq mi (64740 sq km); total area: 25332 sq mi (65610 sq km) ... From North to South Sri Lanka is 425 km wide and from East to West it is 225 km wide. Sri Lanka has a tropical climate and has rain forests that abounds with fauna and flora. The central region of Sri Lanka is hill country, and as you travel upcountry you can enjoy the natural scenic beauty and the salubrious climate especially during the season April to June. As you travel upcountry the mist covered tea plantations look like luxurious green carpeted hills. The Peradenia Botanical gardens and the Huggala gardens are major attractions, and for animal lovers two of the wild life parks are Wilpatthu and Yala. Tourists come to our country to see the ancient ruins and to enjoy the lovely golden sandy beaches fringed with palm trees. The natural beauty of Sri lanka is a tourist attraction.
