Sports Day Our School’s Sport Day was held on November 12th and 13th in the Community Stadium. We arrived there at 7:30 a.m. It was cool and breezy. At the opening ceremony, while we sang the school song, some boy Scots raised the school flag. We were excited when the principal announced officially the opening of the Sports Day. I participated in a few track and field events. In the long jump, I won a bronze medal. I did not get good results for other events, so I felt disappointed about it. My friend, Karen, took part in the 400-metre race. She won a bronze medal. I was happy for her. The houses decorated their assigned areas creatively. Our house, Honesty House, displayed a large banner with a picture of a tiger and put up colourful flags around the assigned area. I think the cheerleaders’ costumes were eye-catching and fashionable. The cheerleaders waved pom-poms and shouted slogans at the top of their voices to encourage the athletes. I gave athletes deafening applause too. At the prize-giving ceremony, Courage House was presented with the ‘Best Cheering Team Award’. Politeness House won the ‘Best House Decoration Award’. Honesty House was the overall champion. The Sports Day concluded with an inspirational speech by the famous athlete, Jason Smith. He reminded us that we should keep going and never give up. He encouraged us to try hard at everything we did so that we would be successful. I think the speech was meaningful to us. I admire the athletes very much. Although they were exhausted and sweated a lot, they still tried their best in the sporting events. Fortunately, no one was hurt. I am looking forward to the next Sports
