Kieran Stellingburg English 112 – Final Prof Renie Thanos Topic: The drinking age should be lowered from 21 to 18 in the US. Yes Or No Did you ever see cops at a college party arresting all the young adults under the age of 21 for drinking alcohol? I really don’t find it fair for the laws here in the US whereas to purchase alcohol at the age of 21. We all can agree that we’re adults at the age of 18 legally. I don’t see why an adult of the age 18 can’t legally purchase and drink alcohol. If an adult of the age of 18 can sign up for the US Military and serve for their country then they shouldn’t have a problem to be able to purchase and drink as well. Many other countries laws are 18 or even younger. If the age requirements was lowered to 18 this would eliminate underage drinking as well as drunk driving and the thrill seekers to break the laws that are now for 21. In the United States legally you’re an adult at the age of 18 but however this same adult cannot purchase or drink alcohol. They’re many adults from the age of 18-20 out there in the US living own their own or living on college campuses. For many of the college students that follows in this age bracket they do tend to have that thrill to drink just to be sneaky knowing that the age requirements is 21. I truly believe if the age requirements were to be lowered than most of the young people that go to jail for underage drinking will be reduced by allot. If you look at the past 10 years and look at the charts you would notice that the US have the most underage drinkers arrested than any other crime that is committed which is ridiculous. Why is it that an adult of the age 18 can go to war but then yet can’t purchase and drink alcohol? If law makers can only use this
