Shawshank redemption is crime, drama movie filmed in 1994 in Castle Rock studios. Frank Durabont directed this film which was written by Stephen King. Frank Durabont also wrote the screenplay for this film. This film included an arsenal of actors consisting of; Tim Robbins as Andy Dufrense, Morgan Freeman as Ellis Boyd “Red” Redding, Bob Gunton as Warden Norton, William Sadler as Heywood, Clancy Brown as Captain Hadley, Gil Bellows as Tommy and James Whitmore as Brooks Hatlen. Shawshank Redemption won an Academy award for best picture and best actor which was given to Morgan Freeman. Andy Dufrense seemingly the cold killer of his cheating wife and her lover, sits in court getting question by the court prosecutor answering them emotionless and nonchalant. The judge sentence Andy to two life terms in Shawshank Prison. When Andy reaches Shawshank he immediately catches the attention of the prison veteran “Red”. One day while in the prison yard Andy approaches Red for a small rock hammer, Red is the “Sears” of the prison, not only did Red gain a customer that day but he also gained a friend for life. Andy was different from any prisoner who has ever served time at Shawshank. He became well respected by the prison guards and even managed to get Sergeant Hadley to somewhat treat him with a little more respect than the other prisoners because he saved him 35,000 dollars. He gained even more favor from the prison Warden by keeping his books. Later in the film Andy takes a young prisoner named Tommy under his wing and finds that Tommy’s old inmate was the real murderer. Andy explains it all to the Warden and he finds it to be a very thrilling fictional story that Tommy cultivated to entertain Andy. Andy had a secretive plan up his sleeve to save him from all those years of misery and gets revenge on the Warden for being such a hypocrite and “obtuse”. As we watch this
