[pic] Whoever does an ill-deed, he will be repaid with ill, while whoever does good, whether male or female, and is a believer, will enter the Garden, where they will be given sustenance without measure. When it comes to attaining the pleasure of Allah and closeness to Him there is no gender discrimination. It is our deeds that make one better than the other in His eyes. We have often heard the phrase “What goes around, comes around.” In the verse I just recited Allah is warning is that if you do evil then that is what will come back to you but when you do good you will be rewarded. Sometimes we as women, don’t realize the great impact we have on society but if we look at the role of women in history we see that women have a direct or indirect role to play. First of all, if it wasn’t for women, the great men of this world who are famous for what they have done, would not have been but that is an indirect role which is not the topic of my discussion today. Let’s look at how women have directly impacted society. Starting with the first woman created by Allah: Though the biblical scriptures may make it sound like it was Eve’s fault that Adam ate from the forbidden tree, in the Quran both are blamed and addressed for what they did. We see that Prophet Ibrahim’s wife Hajar has a high rank for it is after her running between safa and marwa 7 times that it became a part of the Hajj. We see how the mother of Prophet Musa(SA) was inspired by Allah to put her son in the basket and then later reunited with her baby to be a part of his being raised. There may not have been a female prophet but Bibi Maryam directly communicated with the angels.
