The minority groups suffer pain and injury as the result of racist speech, because symbolic message affected “hearts and minds.” Words can hurt, and racial epithets and harassment often cause deep emotional feelings of anxiety that pervade every aspect of a victim’s life. Speech can victimize you because of your race, sexual preference, or gender identification. There are many targets groups from racial speech and harassment that the First Amendment failure to protect. Our lives are different from our ancestor’s in fundamental ways. Today more and more women have been elected to serve as mayors, governors, and members of Congress in recent years. Women have shown men that we are strong and we deserve respect as human beings. Couples with unfair evaluations, may limit women’s opportunities to secure and hold leadership positions. What women do is ultimately up to them. One of my inspirational words is about family freedoms, “Stephanie Marston” writes, “Every family should extend first amendment rights to all it is members, but this freedom is particularly essential for our kids. Children must be able to say what they think openly express their feelings, and ask for what they want and need if they are ever able to develop an integrated sense of self.” Works Cited Charles R.
