Title: Posada Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about the Catholic tradition “Posada” and how my family takes part in it every year. Central Idea: I will be discussing to the audience the history of the posada and how my family gets involved. Introduction I. Attention: I will tell a story how I had to be in a Posada as a child. II. Audience connection/credibility: My first hand experience in acting in the Posada as baby Jesus. III. Thematic Statement: (Preview of main points) Introducing the class to what a posada is, the process of the festival, and how the celebration ends. Body I. Everyone participates during the posada. 1. Everyone is given a role mostly children. 2. The rest of the people are given a candle as we prepare for our long walk around our church. (Transition/signpost) Since we know what happens during the posada let us turn to the end of the event. III. Main Point: How the celebration of the posada is ended. A. Everyone gathers inside the church and celebrates the importance of Jesus being born. 1. Support material: Before we eat someone talks about the importance of this celebration. 2. Support material: We gather around the food and give a prayer. B. We eat the food that everyone brought. 1. The piñata is broken and is shaped as a star. 2. Everyone enjoys the rest of the communion. Conclusion I. Signal end is near: So therefore my purpose was to inform about the posada to the class. II. Review main points: what is a posada and what is means, the process of the celebration, and how my family is involved. III. Reinforce central idea: Now that I have spread my knowledge about the posada and my involvement. IV. Close with impact: I hope everyone can come out and experience a posada someday in their life
