During my first week of college, I made the poor and juvenile decision to run away from the police. Not only did I run, but also when I was caught they found my fake ID in my wallet. The night began as an innocent ritual, but escalated into something very dangerous and wrong very quickly. I ran from something that police would not have even been mad about. It is never a good idea to carry a fake ID or run from the cops because of the many dangers (Potentially Fatal) that stray along with these acts. Firstly I should have stayed right where I was when the cops pulled up the night of the incident. The night of the incident it was very dark, and I could not see what was even twenty feet ahead of me. There were many tree branches, hills, probably ditches, etc. All it takes is for one person to get hurt, and it would all be my fault. Someone could have fell and broken a led, hit a branch and gotten a concussion, or fell on their gun, etc. There were many cops riding around on bikes looking for my friends and I. Riding through a field on a bike and a pitch-black sky do not mix well. Regardless of how bad the injury could have been, it was not smart to put everyone involved in that situation in the first place. If I had talked to the cops, nothing would have been wrong. Instead I ran, and I wasted the time of the cops when they could have been dealing with other serious things. I had the cops looking for me for around two hours, and they had no idea why I ran, so I am sure they were expecting the worst. I am lucky that the cops treated me the way they did. They had no idea who they were dealing with, but I imagine that they had to think it was someone dangerous because I ran. The cops had every right to use their weapons or throw me in jail.
