Sutherland’s differential association theory imputes the cause of crime to intimate social contacts and learnt behaviour (Bernard, et al., 2010 p.180). Sutherland made criminologists aware of “white collar criminals” by introducing the term and by making society aware of middle and high class criminals and crimes (Sutherland, 1983). When Sutherland originally attempted to publish his book on white collar crime the Indiana University and Dryden (who the f is Dryden?) demanded the removal of names from his book, due to possible backlash it would cause and alienation of the wealthy businesses who contributed to the university (Sutherland, 1983). His book was eventually published in 1949 without the names of companies he accused of committing criminal behaviour (Sutherland, 1983).
The victim of this crime is not known to the offender, but is chosen because she/he meets criteria specific to the killer's psychological construct. In multiple, linked homicides, the similarities in appearance of the victims will be obvious. For example, most of Ted Bundy's victims looked just like his ex-fiancee. This offender plans his murders, spends time targeting his victims, and displays control over the scene. He is methodical and orderly throughout all phases of the crime.
His first victim was in 1965, when he killed a women using alcohol poisoning. He use to pay these women to drink with him and bring them back to a hotel. He use to make them drink until they would pass out and that was when he forced more alcohol down their throat and rape them. Paul's criminal record did not start with him murdering women. At sixteen, he dropped out of high school and at that time, he already had an drinking problem.
This case study will cover the homicide of Nina Lewis. Murder is a crime, to which no moral citizen can sympathise with the perpetrator. This study will use a theoretical basis to explain what led to this abhorrent crime. Firstly identification of the crime committed will be detailed. Secondly, covered is the investigation into this crime, the apprehension and conviction of the offender.
He describes lethal injections as too “hospitalized” and would oppose the thought of it. The author later explains that if there was any sort of death penalty there should just be a traditional firing squad. In another argument he also explains that no one takes responsibility for the punishment, and in case of the firing squad the responsibility is just diffused to different groups. He later explains that we have to take responsibility as a people about these capital punishments and that the past really does count. He concludes by saying anesthesia needs to be abolished, and in order to kill a person we, as a people will find a constitutional way to kill them.
I had never heard of this tragic Romona Moore case until we had a chance in the class to watch the horrific crime, which was perpetrated against this young woman, in the. It is a terrible distress what happened to this smart and hard working young woman, by two despicable pieces of garbage, but what is even more of a tragedy, is the way, the New York City police department dismissed her family and friends when they reported her missing. All of civilians have a right to the same resources as anyone else who need a help from police or who reports a missing person, yet, victim’s family were ignored. In addition, there are another ignorance which was deprived of humanity. The man who knew about Romona Moore's kidnapping and torture did nothing to aide or assist her even he didn’t report to police.
Would you expect for help form your neighbors? What if your neighbors will not do anything?” According to the “38 saw murder and didn’t call the police” written by Martin Gangbers, this happened to a woman named Catherine Genovese. She was attacked by the man, who stabbed her with a knife and left her for a death in front of her neighbors. 38 people, who witnessed the attack, were ignoring such an important and deadly situation. Most of the witnesses claimed that they “didn’t want to get involved”.
The Second Amendment of the Constitution guarantees the right of every American to bear arms. Random acts of violence have resulted in serious injury and death to innocent people as a result of guns being in the wrong hands. When it comes to the debate over gun control, Americans for or against, are very passionate about their arguments. The Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, states that “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” In 2008, the Supreme Court ruled on what this means exactly. It applies to individuals, not just militias.
