zoe miras ProfessorJohn October 14,2011 Piper Driving down I-95 to the Florida everglades, car packed to the gills with sleeping bags, pillows, duffle bags, tents, and of course a Heineken keg this was going to be the best road trip of all time how can it not be. We were going down to Florida to camp in the everglades for three nights and watch our favorite band Phish usher in the new millennium with 75,000 of our closest friends. The three of us could not of been more excited to get this show on the road little did we know what a unique fun filled experience we were truly in for. The three of us Jimmy, a big slightly over weight balding twenty-four year old that would give you the shirt of his back the real life of the party type. Kenny, a skinny quite type who was into reading and music and me somewhere in between both socially and physically.
For example, there are tons of animals born with defects and other abnormalities. Like the pink hippopotamus found in Kenya, or the pink albino bottle nose dolphin. This bottle nose dolphin was discovered in Lake Calcasieu in Louisiana in 2007 by charter boat captain Erik Rye. Rye told ESPN " It was absolutely, stunningly pink, it looks like it just came out of a paint booth." I have never seen a pink dolphin, but it is on my list of things to see.
Joining the navy on July 27, 2007 was one of the happiest days ever, I wanted to be travel the world and see different places, places I’ve never seen. Be able to shop and have things that no one else would have. I graduated from boot camp and was sent to the newest aircraft carrier in the fleet the USS George H.W Bush. On January 12, 2010 we got devastating news that and earthquake had just hit Haiti. At the time the ship wasn’t going out to sea so they were able to send volunteers to help the victims of the earthquake, so I decided to volunteer.
I knew it was going to be a hot day because at eight in the morning it was already unbearable to sit in the car. I was going to Detroit to watch my first Tigers game, and it was a day I would never forget. When I was five years old my family moved from a house in the city, to a house in the country with a big yard. Power outages, deaths, destroyed cities, and underground subways are the effects of Hurricane Sandy. Hurricane Sandy destroyed portions of the Caribbean, Mid-Atlantic, Northeastern United States, and Eastern Canada. This storm left major damage with its powerful winds and flooding rains that left many residents without electricity, blew roofs off buildings, flooded streets, caused food shortages, left many people homeless, and killed many innocent lives. Hurricanes are strong rotating oceanic weather systems that bring maximum wind speeds and powerful rain that can cause a lot of damage. With all the damage that took place there's a lot of organizations that are stepping in to help people in need from the damage of Hurricane Sandy.
By mid afternoon Huggy Face and his sailors figured out that the calmness of the beaches, sun kissed sand, and blissful wind compound was perfect for fishing, swimming and surfing. In order to know for sure that it was what he was looking for Captain Huggy Face decided to stay around and explore the outskirts of the island. Two days passed and they discovered that the island had a gold treasure! Now with this finding he came back every day to see if it’d be replenished again and so one day it was filled up again. After several weeks Huggy Face saw the adversity of creatures that lived there, which was a total bonus on his behalf; he knew it’d become more than a want but a wish to be there for every traveler in the world.
People come from all over the island to dive here, since the water is extremely clear allowing you to see all the different sea life. When the tide is low, small tide pools are created. My children can spend numerous hours playing in the pools. They’re either looking at all the colorful fish that are trapped or just sitting in the pools, cooling off from the hot Okinawa sun. Sometimes they get overly excited going from one pool to another and slip on the coral reef, which can put a damper on all the fun.
