Pastoral Counseling Reflection Paper Veronica Mead Liberty University Abstract In this paper the student-author sets out her experience with pastoral counseling, current needs, expectations of the course, and describes her approach to pastoral counseling. This student author completed a Master’s Degree in Theology at Liberty University in order to fulfill the role of Assistant Pastor at the Christian Community Church, in Georgia, but has no formal or informal experience in Pastoral Counseling. In this paper the solution-based, short-term pastoral counseling model is explored. The reading materials presented in the initial part of the course has helped this student to move from a problem-focused method to a solution-focused method of problem solving. Solution-Focused Pastoral Counseling (SFPC) offers an alternative to a problem-focused counseling approach.

As a combination worship and fellowship space, worship services are shared on Sunday mornings and meals are served on Wednesday nights. Years since have seen the construction of an additional building in 2009 to be used for varied education ministries. But the history of buildings and growth is simply a reflection of the church’s ministries. The property and the buildings are tools to assist the congregation in following and growing Christ. Because of the tools of meeting space, ministries of the church and other Christian fellowships can occur throughout the week.
Bishop Alexander first saw Athanasius as a young boy “playing church” with his friends on the beach. Athanasius’ understanding of Greek writing and knowledge, Christian Doctrine and the Bible served him well when he was appointed assistant and secretary to Bishop Alexander at the age of 21. Soon afterwards Athanasius was ordained Deacon. When Athanasius was 33 years old, he became the Bishop of Alexandria.

A.D. King remembered on brother’s holiday “How can you be forgotten if you never been known?” asked his widow, Naomi King, 82. “He was always in the background. But I want his memory to live on.” A.D. King’s widow and family have tried to resurrect A.D. King’s memory with the creation of the A.D. King Foundation, which teaches nonviolence in his name. The foundation has also released a documentary on A.D. King’s life. On Monday, when the world celebrates the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., the family of his brother will say a prayer for a figure that has been largely lost in history – King’s younger brother, Alfred Daniel “A.D.” King.
Students will also complete a writing assignment to examine the planning for the desegregation of schools and the government's role in that planning. Students gain insight into the reasons why World War I had such a profound impact on the United States in the years Letters Back Home: A Soldier's following the war by reading letters that one soldier wrote to his family back home. Students will then assume the role Perspective on World War I: of a soldier and write a letter back home to a family member reflecting what they have learned about WWI. This activity should be completed before reading the essay "Beach People, Mountain People" by Suzanne Britt. Analyzing Author Style Using Students will combine three sets of kernel sentences based on the first paragraph of Britt's writing.

We will learn it in three sections. They will only have to write the section they have memorized on a particular week for their Bible verse quiz. 26It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. 27Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts.
The participants involved in the study were taught a religious studies lesson and then walked to their next class, either with a feeling of high or low urgency about getting to their next class. On their way to their next class they were purposely encountered by an injured man in the corridor. The results showed that those in a low urgency situation were much more helpful, compared to only 10% of participants in a high urgency situation who helped the man. ‘Good Samaritanism’ initially originated from the Bible, as the story known as the parable of the Good Samaritan that our society has adopted as a model for how citizens should behave. It was a story of how a Samaritan helped a man who had been beaten by a gang of ancient thugs, while a priest and Levite just passed by without helping the victim.
Erica Dickerson Due: 4/24/2011 MLK Special Topics Term Paper Martin Luther King Jr. was raised in the church ever since he was a little boy and growing up surrounded by a father and grandfather who are preachers it’s no denying that he would be actively involved in the church. Throughout the years he became further interested in the church that he joined the ministry and later became Co-Pastor, alongside his father, at Ebenezer Baptist Church on Auburn Ave in Atlanta, Georgia. He attended the Rising Sons Sunday School Program as a youth, which was taught by one of the prominent men that influenced his young life, Rev. J. H. Edwards (Miller). This African American folk preaching style influenced, as well as the influences of the teachings of the Greek philosophies learned at the Universities he attended rounded the orating styles of his speeches.
