1.2 Identify problems that individuals with an autistic spectrum condition may havein social interaction and relantionships Communication difficulties may contribute to autistic people becoming socially anxious or depressed or prone to self-injurious behaviours. Significant percentage of people with autism are being diagnosed with co-morbid mood, anxiety and compulsive disorders which may also contribute to behavioural and functioning challenges. 1.3 Outline the problems of inflexibility and restrictveness in activitie and interests and how these may affect individuals on the autistic spectrum Individuals with autism like routine, don't like change, find it difficult to interact with others, are very focused on what interests them (sometimes to the point of obsession) they can easily become anxious and distressed. This makes them inflexible (won't let you change anything, repeat the same actions
Do children with Autism lack the understanding of others minds? Autistic disorder is a long term disorder which has characters such as unresponsiveness to others, low communication skills and behavioural repetitive patterns. Autism mostly affects boys, five in every 10,000 children are affected from this disorder. Even the adults who have high function rates, have difficulties with communication, relating to others and repetitive actions. Children’s understanding of other peoples mind is connected to the Theory of Mind.
Autism Autism is not nearly as widely known as the familiar Down's syndrome, yet surprisingly autism is far more widespread. Autism is a spectrum disorder. The symptoms and the characteristics of autism can present themselves in a wide variety of combinations, from mild to sever. Because the autism in children leads to family distress, treatment program should cover the family of autism affected children. The reality is that autism has many levels of severity . My chose for an opening statement will state the differences of the behavior at the known levels of severity, what treatment seem to be most successful at each level, and while the cause of autism remains mystery, research that includes positive behavior modification has been fairly successful.
Autism is a developmental disability that causes problems with social skills and communication. Autism can be mild or severe. It is different for every person. It is also known as autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and can include high and low functioning and verbal / nonverbal conditions along the spectrum as well as a milder form known as Asperger syndrome, and childhood disintegrative disorder and pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified (referred to as PDD-NOS). Although ASD varies significantly in character and severity, it occurs in all ethnic and socioeconomic groups and affects every age group.
I have often heard people saying the word "retard", and the first thing that comes to my mind is people with Aspergers Diseases (though I know that this was wrong of me). Another example of how 'retard' is associated with autistic people is through the work of famous recording artists. Drake and J. Cole's song “Jodeci" for example includes a line where they call autistic people "retarded.”I’ve argued for the use of a different word before, but after reading "The Truth about Autism," I learned that the notion that three quarters of autistic people are mentally restated is incorrect. Individuals with autism have brilliant and creative minds, and their gifts should not be discounted. In conclusion, the compelling fact I learned was that people with Autism are often harmfully mislabeled "retards."
(Ciccarelli, 204) People who are autistic may also fail to learn to speak. They normally do not like to be touched. Today, Autism is placed in a category called pervasive developmental disorders. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental disorders, autism is not so much about the intelligence level, but the cognitive skills are usually always uneven (Zager, 4). 2.
Autism is characterized by delays or abnormal functioning before the age of three years in one or more of the following domains: (1) social interaction; (2) communication; and (3) restricted, repetitive, and stereotyped patterns of behavior, interests, and activities. I know the effects of autism. Being the father of two children on the polar opposites of the autism spectrum I have dealt with all the aspects and crippling emotional and social effects of the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). In my research, I have discovered many paradigm shifts in the technologies used to treat this disorder. Over the years and the development of computational research the technologies of identifying and addressing the problems with physical, emotional, and social disabilities associated with ASD have grown exponentially.
Usher Syndrome The ability to see and hear is amazing but often taken for granted. According to the National Institute of Health, 3-6% of children who are deaf and 3-6% of children who are hard of hearing are affected with Usher Syndrome. It is estimated that 4 babies in every 100,000 births have Usher Syndrome. Usher syndrome (USH) is responsible for 50% of all monogenic deaf-blindness cases. (Bonnet et al).
Autism Spectrum Disorder Erick Mojica Florida National University Professor Hortacio Nunez December 08, 2014 Abstract ASD formally known as Autism Spectrum Disorder is a disorder found in many children. It is mainly found more in males than in females. This disorder affects kids at a very young age and impairs both social and communication skills in the brain. In this paper, you will read the signs and symptoms and even the treatments and therapies these children can take. Don’t get me wrong, those these treatments will help the children cope and maybe even understand their disorder it will not cure it or take it away.
Family studies carried out by Gottesman in 1991 helped to look into this further. His studies concluded the following: Throughout the general population, 1% had the disease, 13% of children of people with it suffered but the highest family group connected to the person who suffered from schizophrenia was identical twins with 47%. This information proves that there is obviously a link between genetics and schizophrenia as it would seem the more genetically linked you are to a person suffering from schizophrenia, the more likely it is for that person to suffer from it themselves. However, the highest percentage of people most likely to inherit the disease from another person, identical twins, only account for 47% which is less than half of the population who could inherit, meaning that genetics are not entirely to blame and cant be seen as a completely accurate explanation for schizophrenia. The current belief is that there are a number of genes that contribute to susceptibility of schizophrenia, but none exhibit full responsibility for the disease.
