Federica Cernuto An Essay Dissecting the Dance Sequence in The Red Shoes. The scene that will be analyzed in this essay is the first performance of the ballet The Red Shoes, from the classic film of the same name by Michel Powell and Emeric Pressburger. After this scene, the film , that appeared to be moving towards a happy ending, changes direction. The audience becomes aware of Victoria becoming torn between dance and love, respectively represented by Boris Lermontov and Julian Craster. It also introduces a secondary feature of the film: the detachment from reality.
Symbolism of the Moths in In the Time of the Butterflies Moths have always been famous for congregating around light. They are always found to be blindly swarming around a patio light or street lamb, drawn by the artificial warmth. In the novel In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez, moths are mentioned many times in relation to different sources of light. The light of Trujillo is an artificial light, one that kills if you get to close. While the light of the Mirabal sisters and the revolution is a true light, one that radiates warmth and draws the people of the Dominican Republic to them.
The couple are relying on the trunk in the middle ground, resting, teasing and gazing each other. The trees and the sky fill in the rest space of the painting. The foreground and the middle ground areas are where the scene taken place. The light focuses on the centre, the color gets darker towards the edge. I feel that the sun takes its energy and just injects it into the grass, and from there it explodes in the form of beauty as that grass develops and matures. As that magnificent grass flows in the breeze, it’s like a beautiful Nobile steed carrying a graceful princess while running on a track made of gold, and as that horse begins to approach the enchanted castle surrounded by the exquisite grass, it seems as if all life has paused and is focused on the beauty in nature and all other forms of life. The grandeur of the scene is owed to a single blade of
“Over The River and Through The Woods” Task 3 – Critical Essay Unlike many other short science fiction stories, Clifford D. Simak’s “Over the River and Through the Woods” keeps its readers wanting to know how it ends. This story is about two mysterious children, Paul and Ellen Forbes, who unexpectedly walk into their apparent grandmother’s house in the woods with objects that have never been seen before. Their grandma, who is also named Ellen Forbes, knows nothing of these children, who claim that their father sent them there for a short vacation. The mysterious mood, imagery, and foreshadowing all contribute to this being a good story. It is commonly accepted that this story, like all other science fiction pieces, is not real, but unlike many others, it has an eerie, mysterious mood throughout, which makes it interesting and keeps readers reading.
I think everyone as a children has the dream of one day to become someone famous in life. It could be in a band, as an artist, actor/actress, the president or any other famous thing. My dream has always been to be a professional ballet folklorico dancer. For me Folklorico is the most beautiful way to express art. All the colors, those huge skirts, and all that makeup just resemblance happiness.
Steinbeck creates a beautiful and natural setting by his use of figurative language. “Willows fresh and green with every spring” and “leaves lie deep and so crisp” create an image in the mind of the reader that evokes a calm and peaceful mood. Steinbeck then uses the setting to introduce the two main protagonists. The arrival of the protagonists interrupts the harmony of the river bank, but before any sign of them is visible or within earshot, the birds fly away, the rabbits scatter, and all the other animals flee the area. This lets us know that something or someone is coming.
ALGONQUIN PARK The most beautiful place to visit during spring is Algonquin Park, Ontario. A large green meadow sincerely welcomes me as I stand in the luscious green grass I look at the gorgeous sight in front of me. The vast wilderness area provides many different kinds of wild flowers that grow in the mountains and meadows. They include elegant yellow daisies, beautiful violet tulips, and narcissus which put forward the most delicious smells. Looking at these graceful flowers that twist in the wind, nature is like a bride walking down a hallway.
The castle served as a home, a fortress, an outpost, and a safe haven for when under attack. They were also a very vital role in securing territory. Thanks to the pioneering design of the medieval castle they are one of the most fortified structures to date. The blood, sweat, tears, thoughts, dreams, perseverance, and innovative ideas involved in the making of a castle has greatly influenced modern architecture. The history behind these marvelous structure as well as the construction, and defenses involved in them attract tourists from all over the world.
The blue expanse overhead calls out to the child with bounding feet ready to leap into the sky and soar, begging the updraft to lift non-existent wings to greater heights, to pillow-like clouds of paradise highs. But there is no space for the cloud walker to take flight as the bridge-utilizers come rolling in like the tide. Wave upon wave of groups of people flood the concrete walkway, the quick shuffle of feet mingling with the busy chatter about tasks to accomplish like papers and other academic requirements to submit, presentations to deliver, and exams to prepare for, and audible complaints about the summer heat. The re-burdened child in an adult body is lost in the crowd, dragged beneath the surface, anchored by metal chains of individual struggles and the collective humanity’s problems. All too often people simply walk past the rest that nature brings.
