Introduction Representation 1 is a text extract from a GCSE textbook written by Sauvain and published in 1997. While representation 3 is a cartoon that gives insight into anti-war protests, it was created by John Fischetti and published during the Vietnam War. On the other hand, representation 2 is an extract from a book ‘America in Vietnam’ which was written by Guenter Lewy and was published in 1978. As historians, it is important to decide which representation best helps understand the way in which the people in the USA reacted to the Vietnam War. To help decide which is the best, three criteria could be used which is comprehensiveness, objectivity and accuracy to evaluate the representations.

Rules of Engagement and Limited War Ideology Barbara A. Smith HIST 415: Vietnam & 20th Century Experience DeVry Online University Professor: Traci Sumner Submitted: February 2, 2013 The Vietnam War was a war fought by the US military using the limited war theory and Rules of Engagement (ROE). The viewpoint of what that meant to the outcome of the Vietnam War can differ from person to person. The people who fought in battle’s perception differs tremendously from the highest chain of command, who were the people with the responsibility of determining what limit to put on any conflict and what the rules of engagement would entail. They did not participate in the conflict itself. The following discusses the use of ROE and limited war theory in the Vietnam War, how six levels of command perceived them, and their impact on the outcome of the conflict.

The beginning of the movie shows how Elliot Tiber brings the creators of Woodstock to their town, to check if they can have the concert there. When the news hits that it will be in his town on Max Yasgur’s farm the hippies start to flock in the area. On Wednesday, August 13, 1969 there were 60,000 people that showed up on the big open farm in front of the 75-foot stage. Then on Friday the streets and nearest highway were blocked by people parking their cars and walking to the concert. At this point there were 500,000 people at the concert and bands had to be flown in by helicopter (About Woodstock 1969).
The first pro of having all year round school is the fact that the traditional school calendar is out of date. When public schools were first set up the United States was still mainly agriculturally based. Most of the students when the public schools were first set up lived on a farm and helped the parents around the farm. The school system acknowledged that and so they set up a 2.5 to 3 month summer vacation for students to help around the farm because that is the optimal time when farming is at its peak. And in today’s society, as much as we like a summer break that is two and half to three months long, isn’t really needed.
