My camping experience My cousin and Vivian took me to visit their relatives camping at Mt. Madonna County Park on Saturday. Mt. Madonna County Park is one of Santa Clara County’s regional park and recreation areas. The park is 3,688 acres big and is dominated by redwood forest. The landscapes changes from red wood forest to Oakwood lands and grassy meadows. The rules of the park are strict and forbid tourists to destroy the environment. Camping is an outdoor recreational activity and it is different from what I thought. The campsite is humid and invested with insects. Although there are shades, the temperature is still very high in the campsite. In the tent, the temperature becomes unbearable. The campground have sites with facilities such as barbecue grills, utilities, and shared bathrooms .The worst part of camping is to make the tent and taking it down. You can go hiking, mountain biking, swimming and fishing while you camp. Relatives of Vivian built fire to keep bugs away, but the smell of smoke was horrible. We cooked our food on the barbecue grills and had hotdog and burgers for lunch. Vivian’s family and I had fun playing Uno and we also did some hiking in the mountains. We saw woodpeckers and deer running in the woods. Although woodpeckers are found worldwide, except for extreme Polar Regions, this is the first time I have ever seen a woodpecker. I saw the woodpecker drilling wood for food and making knocking noises. The deer seemed not to be afraid of people and came near to us. Before we left; I and Vivian’s family went to a Buddhist temple to pray. Vivian’s family had been to the temple for 3 times in that day according to one of Vivian’s nephew. I wonder if Vivian’s family is religious. Monks in the temple
