King attended a segregated public school in Georgia, graduating from high school at the age of fifteen and received his B. A. degree in 1948 from Morehouse College; a distinguished Negro institution of Atlanta from which both his father and grandfather had graduated. In June 1953 Martin married Coretta Scott and had four kids. In 1954 King became the pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. During this time Rosa Parks was arrested for failure to give up her seat to a white man on a Montgomery city bus.
Martin entered Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, when he was only 15 years old. In 1948, he graduated from Morehouse College with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. In September 1948, Martin was one of six African American students to attend Crozer Theological Seminary. On May 8, 1931, he received a bachelor of divinity degree from Crozer. In June 1951, Martin graduated with an “A” average and delivered the valedictory speech for his class.
Bob Marley: Reggae Legend Although Bob Marley didn’t have a formal education, he educated Americans with his music. Marley was born Robert Nesta Marley, at 2:30 am on February 6th 1945, in St. Ann Jamaica to the parents, Captain Norval Marley and Cedalla Booker. Soon after Bob Marley was born, his father left his mother. Although Captain Norval Marley was not there as a father figure for Bob, he did pay financial support and came to visit his son. In 1959 at age 14 Bob Marley quit school.
He began writing very young, in elementary school. He wrote monster stories for other students for 1 cent per page. Dramatic readings included. He gained an interest in comic books in high school, where he began to write fan fictions for comic fanzines, or amateur fan magazines. (“Life and Times”) The first sale of his professional career was in 1970 at age 21: The Hero, sold to the fanzine Galaxy, which was published February 1971.
English 101 In the first couple of chapters it’s a young boy named Ishmael Beah. Ishmael was just twelve when he went through the war. At first he was just a young boy with his older brother Junior and four other friends in a rap group. They studied people like The Sugar Hill Gang and LL Cool J. They also had lyrics and practiced every day.
Dennis Rader “The Dennis Rader was born in Kansas on March 9, 1945 and was the fourth child of William and Dorothea Rader. In 1948 when Dennis was a boy, Mr. William Rader Moved his family to a modest home in Wichita Kansas. As a child Dennis would not appear as nothing out of the ordinary, as a young boy he joined the boy scouts and participated in his churches youth groups. In school he was an average student who had tendencies to be withdrawn. Dennis Rader recounts that he developed his fantasies about torture, control and bondage at this early age, while he was still in grade school.
MattieMattie The Promise Land Review The Author Nicholas Lemann was born and raised in New Orleans . He was born several months after the “Brown versus Board of Education” decision. Lemann gives a quick snap shot of his upbringing in a two and a half YouTube video. In it he tells how he comes from a small nuclear family but had a large extended family He shares that his family has deep roots in New Orleans since 1836. His grandfather started a law firm in which his father and uncle worked.
Lesane Parish Crooks also known as Tupac Shakur is one of the greatest artist of all time. He still influences the world even after his death. Tupac was born June 16, 1971 in East Harlem New York as the son of active members of the Black Panthers Party. After a few years his family moved to Marin City, California where his rap career began. He started writing lyrics in his High School where he also performed at concerts, the concert led to him being signend with Atron Gregory who set him up as a roadie and backup dancer with the young rap group Digital Underground in 1990.
