War of 1812 Letter University of Phoenix HIS/115 July 25, 2013 David Glauber August 1814 My Dearest Family, It seems as though I will not be coming home as I had written in my other letters. It has been many months since I have returned home and my desire to return home to the farm and all of you. I do not know when I will have another moment to rest, so I thought I would send a letter home before the battle starts up again. We had been informed that the British had taken the American militiamen at the Battle of Bladensburg, Maryland and will be marching to the capital soon, so we were given time to rest and regain our strength. To be honest, I am weary of the fighting and want to return home and forget about the war.
