Abstract This paper will discuss the contributions of two nineteenth and twentieth century labor giants: Samuel Gompers and John L. Lewis. These gentleman had a lot of similarities; one of them being they contributed greatly to America’s labor movement implementing structure and strategy. Under their leadership two labor federations were managed: American Federation of Labor (AFL) and the Congress of Industrial Organization (CIO). Their dedication, efforts, and strong-will helped raise living standards for millions of workers and their families during their tenure. This paper will also make a distinction between the two men displaying the different leadership styles that they both had.

Albert Speer was with no uncertainty a significant figure and member within the Nationalist Socialist Party who contributed a noteworthy amount to Nazi ideology and practice. His influence however within the Nazi Party grew as time went on holding key positions such as Hitler's architect, Head of German Labour Front and Minister for Armaments and Munitions from 8 February 1942 among other tasks. Roosevelt’s life and rise to the presidency were two extremely vital factors that impacted the development of America. Franklin D. Roosevelt has in present time been the base of what Americans call a “good president”. When Barack Obama was elected forty-forth preident of the United States many attempted to compare him to Roosevelt to see how he would measure up. The role the Spanish war played in America’s development will be discussed in this paper, along with 2 ways the Roaring Twenties and Great Depression affected the federal government’s involvement in the national economy. The Progressive Era was a period between the years of 1890 and 1920 and consisted of many social and political issues including reforming government, expanding democracy mostly with issues surrounding women’s rights, economic reform, and social welfare. There were many accomplishments and changes made due to the Progressive Era and some of these changes have many influences on our culture and society still today. The first turning point I will raise will be the dawn of the oil industry in America which took place in 1901 and provided a new source of fuel. The oil industry began with the discovery of the Spindletop Geyser and led to over 1,000 oil companies in less than a year.

This week after reading about leadership theories and styles I would have to say the George Patton had used several different leadership styles that had enabled him to becoming a well rounded leader in history. George Patton had traits and styles that touched on behavioral, contingency, traits, and contemporary theories. Although George Patton was unorthodox, he was an audacious, inspiring, and brilliant leader.
