The Notorious Woodstock Woodstock, also known as the “Three Days of Peace and Music” was thought to be the peak of the musical revolution of the 60’s. The Festival had been hyped virtually all summer long over the radio. Woodstock was located in upstate New York August 15th-18th 1969 and drew in large crowds from all over the nation. In the following research I will show the history of Woodstock and the great impact that it had on the people who organized it, attended and those who performed. (Rosenberg, 2011, para.
Ho ho ho ho! Merry Viva la Vida to all! Coldplay is successful in being Rock in Rio's concluding band of the night. They start out the night with a crowd warming, "In My Place." The first song riles up the already jumping crowd, warmed up from Maroon 5's opening act.
Brass bands enlivened military units on the parade ground and accompanied civilian couples on the dance floor. When politicians launched their campaigns they hired bands to punctuate their promises. And when the circus came to town, it was the band that made the first announcement with ringing brass and at showtime was on hand to accompany the daring acts with During this time brass bands were mostly civilian and every town had one. It would have been difficult to avoid band music in the nineteenth century in America. “There is nothing that rouses the universal enthusiasm of everybody as does a spirited band,” claimed the Wurlitzer Instrument Company in what was a true observation as well as a business ploy.
With various members undertaking solo projects or touring with other bands, and their lack of permanency in the lead guitar spot, the Peppers always seemed on the verge of breaking up. In 1999, though, they reunited the lineup that appeared on their 1991 breakthrough Blood Sugar Sex Magik and released the album Californication to critical and popular acclaim. The two men who have been Peppers from the beginning, vocalist Anthony Kiedis and bass player Michael Balzary, became close friends in high school in Los Angeles. They joined with fellow classmates Hillel Slovak on guitar and Jack Irons on drums to form the band Anthem. Their band, Anthem, ended shortly after the creation.
Opening Statement for Defence Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen of the jury it is my privilege along with my colleagues to represent Don Von Chovi in this case before you today. On August 15,1992 there was a Pistolz ‘N Daisys rock concert at the FlyDome. Mr. Don Von Chovi and his fiancée Fran GoodHeart had recently got engaged and planned to celebrate at the rock concert. The couple had a romantic evening planned that included a romantic dinner and a concert. Mr. Don Von Chovi and his fiancée bought a pair of overly priced tickets from the deceased scalper Sean Penney, that they wouldn’t be able to buy an engagement ring.
I’ m sure everyone has been a Pseudo- Fan at at least a couple concerts; I know I have. They want to just go and have a great At these shows you of course have to have the Old Hippies. They are most definitely my favorite and most interesting people I come across at these concerts. You can’ t call it a real jam show without them. They range in age from early 40’ s to late 60’ s or seventies even.
Woodstock was three days of music and peace. It started August 15,1969. With over half a million people who attended, it is known today as the greatest rock concert ever! The concert was on a huge farm, which was the perfect size. The police was sure they would have it prepared, but unfortunately they were not ready for 500,000 people, but what made Woodstock so special?
The dove stood for peace and the guitar (of course) stood for music. Arnold Skolnick commented on the turnout of the festival, "Something was tapped, a nerve in this country, and everybody just came”, and it’s true that many did indeed come for the peace and
Here in Oklahoma we have a rather unique opportunity to experience any number of cultures on just about any given day as the state is a nice mix of many cultures and ethnicities. One of the most amazing experiences one can have here in the heartland can be found during Oklahoma’s own Red Earth Festival. This festival highlights the Native American culture that permeates the fabric of Midwestern life. This past June I and my family were able to experience the Red Earth Festival for the first time. Upon arrival at the Cox Convention Center in downtown Oklahoma City your senses are brought to life by the sight of amazing colors and rich art, the smells of smoked food, and the sounds of drums that sound as though they will summon the past to present day.
“As soon as I heard John Bonham play”, recalled Jones, “I knew this was going to be great...we locked together as a team immediately.” They played in front of a live audience for the first time at Gladsaxe, Denmark, on 7th September 1968. Following their time touring as The New Yardbirds, the issue of coming up with a new band name arose. One account of how the new band's name was chosen held that Keith Moon, member of The Rolling Stones, suggested that the group would go down like a “lead balloon”. The group dropped the “a” in lead, so that those unfamiliar with the phrase would not pronounce it “leed”. The word “balloon” was transformed into “zeppelin” exaggerating the humourous situation.
