1 Miriam Moreno Woodstock 2 There was a lot of stuff that happened during the 60's. The sixties were about assassination, unforgettable fashion, new styles of music, civil rights, gay and women's liberation, Vietnam, Neil Armstrong landing on the moon, peace marches, sexual freedom, drug experimentation, and Woodstock.(Kopper,2009) All of these things changed the world of music and society. Woodstock was a three day concert, held in Catskill Mountains of New York’s Sullivan country, where people just enjoyed the great music and loved one another. Just imagine being in a concert where there is groovy performers and everyone one is happy and having a good time. They were trying to figure out something that could get them more money. They placed an ad on The New York Times, that stated, “Young men with unlimited capital looking for interesting, legitimate investment opportunities and business propositions," and thats where they met Kornfeld and Lang. (Mitchell, 1997) Then all four of them got together and started putting together the idea doing a concert but they didn’t realize it would later become the greatest rock concert. They had trouble getting a permit where they could host this concert and a group called Concerned Citizen Committee got about 2000 signatures of residents who didn’t want hippie drug users in their town. So they had to find another place where they could host this festival, and they came across a six-hundred acre land owned by Max Yasgur. People were putting signs up saying that they didn’t want hippies
