How does a telescope work? And how has the view of the solar system changed over the years? Over the decades, our methods of observing, interpreting, and learning about the solar system and how our universe functions, has become more and more developed each year. Telescopes: A telescope is an arrangement of lenses, mirrors, or even both combined that collects visible light, giving observers and users a direct view or a photographic recording of distant objects. There are two types of telescopes; A refracting telescope: uses lenses to focus on light to produce magnified images. In refracting telescopes, compound lenses are used to prevent distortions such as spherical and chromatic aberrations. A Reflecting telescope: uses mirrors to see objects at high magnification levels. Most large optical telescopes are reflecting telescopes, this is because it very large mirrors, which are essential to maximise the amount of light you would receive from the telescope, they are also easier to build compared to very large lenses. Telescopes really gave a huge boost to our development in discoveries about the solar system. As the telescopes allowed us to see what was going on out there.
