On May 11, 2010, a bronze statue depicting this famous scene was unveiled outside the Boston arena, in honour of Orr and all of his contributions to the NHL and the sport of hockey. From 1966-1976 Orr played for the Boston Bruins and in the 1976-1977 season, Orr was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks. Bobby Orr’s final NHL season was in Chicago in 1978-1979, where he played only 6 games before retiring at 30 years of age. Orr’s shortened career was due to a chronic knee injury which began soon after he entered the NHL. He had 5 knee operations between 1968 and 1975 before leaving the Bruins for the Blackhawks.
