American Intercontinental University Unit 1 Individual Project MKTG 205 – Principles of Marketing March 7, 2012 Abstract In this paper I will identify marketing environment forces that could influence a locally owned restaurant. I will further discuss strategies to overcome obstacles and to capitalize on opportunities that will arise from these market forces. Market Forces Introduction Many things can influence whether a restaurant is successful. Poor decisions can lead to catastrophic failure very quickly in this type of business. Management must be aware of these things in order to offer their product to a customer at a reasonable price if they want to stay in business.
However, he realized there would be issues, such as turnover, that while he wanted to control, knew that it was the nature of the business. The hospitality literature reflected more of a Caretaker image. In this image change managers are “caretakers, shepherding their organizations along as best they can” (Pamler, Dunford & Akin, 2009 pg. 28). The hospitality literature realized that there will always be turnover defining it as “chronic, always there, something to be endured” (Pamler, Dunford & Akin, 2009 pg.

What specific strategies would you recommend, and how would you promote them at Premier? I think that the primary issue with work/life balance at Premier Publishing is the ability to have a more flexible work schedule and to work from home. Every former Cybooks employee that we have heard from has had the same concern. This gives them a negative image of Premier because they think that the company does not trust its employees. Premier needs to realize that by moving into the technology segment, they are acquiring a new breed of employees, how crave the ability to have creative freedom, which means that they need to be able to work at the times that are most suitable for them.
This is an important thing to see in that the costs that are involved for travel and gasoline can vary in accordance with each UK caterer. After all, traveling from London all the way to the midlands can be something expensive for a caterer to be able to handle. Another thing to see is that in some areas a facility that can handle a wedding reception will work with its own catering company. It will help to take a look at what that facility has when it comes to getting foods prepared for a wedding. If the services that are being offered by that company are not good enough then it would be best to hold the wedding reception in some other area so that another caterer can be used.
TMA01 B120 After careful analysis I have ascertained certain detrimental issues and will address these factors providing ideas on how to improve the overall market position of the Lodge Bistro in the external environment. The integral focus will use the STEEP analysis to provide a better understanding of the external environment including Sociological, Technological, Economic, Environmental and Political factors. (Preston et al, 2012, p. 17). Areas of concern include pressure from other restaurants across Britain, the demographic of consumers, the recession, change in management structure (including managers acting on this to bring forward their own philosophy of ideas), which in some cases has resulted in lower revenues, not taking full advantage of technological resources available and not acting on the advantageous concept of health promotion running rife across Britain. Finally I will focus on the current staff crisis and clarify to you that these stakeholders (members of staff) have a vested interest in the activities of your business and will produce stronger performances if they are motivated and not subjugated into feeling like they are just another cog in the wheel.
However, some companies do have internal consultants, but these consultants are part of the hierarchy, (Change Management Learning Center,1996-2014). There are pros and cons to each avenue of consulting. External consultant typically travels abroad depending on the size of the company and the work/life balance may not be balanced, and the pay is better. The external consultant payment is based on completion of projects. If there are no regular projects coming for the external consultant, then he or she will be struggling and receive no source of income at that
The social institutions have been fragmented; individuals and groups of people now make their own lifestyle decisions, choosing from the many leisure activities and goods that are available. It is no longer possible to talk about “typical family” as domestic arrangements are so varied these days. Anthony Giddens (Individual choice) Giddens asserts that everyone in modern society has to select a lifestyle, although different groups will have different possibilities (and wealth would certainly seem to increase the range of options). 'Lifestyle' is not only about fancy jobs and conspicuous consumption, lifestyles could be said to be like ready-made templates for a narrative of self. Giddens thinks people are no longer “trapped by their gender, ethnicity or social class”.
I say limit you’re spending. Well here’s my logic you shouldn’t go into college spending a lot of money unless you’re on an academic or athletic scholarship but for the regular paying student no. The reason why you should limit your spending is because your money has to last you for a long time. If you’re the type of person who likes to spend a lot then there will be some lonely days for you. Remember you have to eat and unless you’re on a meal plan (which is still basically paying) you will have to go out and buy your own things to eat there is no mommy or daddy there anymore to help make sure your mouth is fed so you’ll have to try to save as much as you can to provide for yourself.
MARRIOT The Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC), or hurdle rate, is a main component for determining the Marriot's financial situation. Its calculation gives insights to believe the growth or decrease in the company's investments, and is also a determinant for establishing operation issues such compensations. Hence, an appropriate calculation of this rate is of major importance for the company. Marriot calculates a different WACC for each of its major investments. This approach for calculating the WACC is based on the fact that the company is into three different business with different risks and it would not be coherent to evaluate investments on the restaurant or services industries on the same way than an investment on an entire different industry such the hotel industry.
