“Out Line and evaluate the major theories relating to the four stages of lifespan development” Maccoby (1980) describes attachment as “a relatively enduring emotional tie to a specific other person”. (Cardwell, 2004). In John Bowlby’s hypothesis – Maternal Deprivation (1953) he suggested that “...a warm, intimate, continuous relationship with the mother...or permanent mother substitute...was essential for mental health...” (Cardwell, 2004). Bowlby was particularly influenced by the study of imprinting performed by Lorenz (1935). “Lorenz showed that attachment was innate...” (Mcleod, 2007).

The play is set on the wealthy English estate of Sidley Park in two time periods, 1809 and 1993, in the same room allowing the audience to explore the nature of truth in relevance to its time. A common focus throughout these two time periods is the disruptive influence of sex and love on the predictability of the universe. Stoppard challenges and supports traditional expectations of love through three main characters who each interpret love and sex differently to suite lifestyle choices. Thomasina is a typical thirteen year old, except that she is unusually privileged with both educational opportunities and the mind of a genius. She is not only driven by her quest for mathematical and literary knowledge, she is also interested in sexuality and relationships.
Aristocratic in voice and manner, she was also one of the best politicians of the 20th century” (PBS). During her husband's presidency, Eleanor gave press conferences and wrote a newspaper column. As a first lady, she worked very hard to help solve many problems that America at that time was suffering from. In the middle of a depression, she encouraged many people, especially women to read and learn about economics and politics, so they could have their own opinion. In this essay, I will discuss what Eleanor Roosevelt’s activities revealed about the limitations of women in the early twentieth century.
She is a nurse, writer, professor, and a theorist. The death of her husband made her develop the caring theory. The basis of Watson’s theory is caring for the person holistically. Watson supports the idea of humanistic and holistic care; focus is on “caring”, promoting health, and preventing illness (Duncan & DePew, 2005). Watson also characterizes nursing as a healing art and science dedicate to the pursuit of harmonious and sacred relationships (George, 2011).
Running head: A NARRATIVE ON HOWARD GARDNER The Road to Multiple Intelligences: A Narrative on Howard Gardner Sheila Thomas Capella University Address: 4901 Far Hills Avenue, D-1 City, State, Zip: Kettering, OH 45429 Phone: 937-626-7145 E-Mail: statsgrad@yahoo.com Advisor: Heidi Kopacek Degree: PhD Abstract Although the idea of multiple intelligences is not new, some consider Howard Gardner the father of multiple intelligences (MI) theory. Through a synthesis of literature reviews, this paper narrates the profound events in Gardner’s upbringing, political, social, and educational background that helped shape his ideas, theories, and utility for MI. Outlined and discussed are the seven intelligences and the eight criteria for defining a new intelligence. Also given platform is the lack of empirical evidence for MI theory. This paper culminates with a glimpse at MI implemented in 21st century classrooms and suggestions for establishing a MI learning environment.
