WEEK 7 TAX RESEARCH MEMORANDUM #1 FROM SUBJECT Deductions for the cost of meals for day trips Two of my clients, Tracey, a sales representative for a national pharmaceutical company and Mark, a ferryboat captain, have come to me with questions regarding allowable deductions of the cost of meals during their day trips. In both situations, their days last from 15 to 19 hours. FACTS Tracey visits customers in a company-owned vehicle. During these long day trips, she will pull over in locations such as rest areas and take a short nap in the backseat of the car. Mark captains a ferry that takes tourists on a roundtrip from Seattle to Victoria and back.
The varieties of fishing spots rang from City of Houston to the Gulf. The city of Houston is located approximately 50 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. Therefore, it is easy to see that a number of fishing spots are available in the 50 miles radius. However, it always comes to what is convenience for the prospective fisher. If you live anywhere other than in the South of Texas then you might have to consider the distance that you have to travel to your fishing spots in Texas City Dike or in Galveston causeway.

Michelle Ohlson INTD670-1403B-06 Leadership and Ethical Decision-Making Dr. Lisa Smart Colorado Technical University 8/31/2014 Abstract The following paper discusses a scenario between Joe with UWear and Bill with Peninsula Hotel. It talks about what is Joe’s ethical responsibility about being invited on a trip with Bill during a contract negotiation between the two companies. Joe needs to decline the invitation politely and just explain to Bill that it might not look right to his management since they are negotiating the contract at the time. If he were to go with Bill on the yacht the management team might take the outing as a bribe from Bill to influence Joe to get a better contract. Joe could lose his job and even worse he could put the company in place for a lawsuit.
In conjunction with the Town of Kelsey, 400 acres of botanical preserve was established on the Baderman land in order to protect the 12 species of rare and endangered butterflies in the area. Business Shadow Project This shadow project was conducted on July 11, 2008. I chose to shadow a manager at the AirTran Holdings Corp. He holds a title of Senior Operations Manager at the Orlando, FL headquarters. I brought with me a rough list of questions that I would use to prompt him into more detail. On the day I shadowed him, it was already summer here, and thus the chances of storms was heavy.
The restructuring of Auto World will have an impact on their current earnings and the store closures need to be properly disclosed. FASB ASC has specific guidelines that must be followed to report discontinued operations. According to numerous ASCs, Auto World’s closures of the Pit Stop Centers should not be reported as discontinued operations in Auto World’s second quarter financial statements. Rather than being reported as discontinued operations, the Pit Stop Center stores should be considered as continuation of operations. An entity that is classified as disposed or held for sale, under ASC 360-10-45-9, should be reported as discontinued operations, under ASC 205-20-45-3, when the two conditions under ASC 205-20-45-1 are met.

When Percy uses the example of the tourist going to the Grand Canyon, the common reader would not have a problem. The tourist “visits his travel bureau, looks at the folder, and signs up for a two-week tour. He and his family take the tour, see the Grand Canyon, and return to Boston” (482). As a common reader I would think that the tourist experienced the Grand Canyon. The man traveled there and took a whole tour.
