The year 2012 once again brings the United States of America to a presidential election. Incumbent President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are challenged by Republican Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney and his Vice Presidential Nominee Paul Ryan in this year’s election. Just a few weeks ago, Paul Ryan gave a speech at the Republican National Convention (RNC) that was held in Tampa, Florida, that emphasized his promise to assist Romney in keeping to the GOP’s “founding principles,” while also critiquing the Obama Administration. Although it is evident that the truthfulness of the information presented was a missing element in Ryan’s speech, the effectiveness of the speech’s rhetorical uses of pathos, ethos, and logos cannot be overlooked. As Ryan was introduced as Romney’s running mate just two weeks before the Republican National Convention took place, his main purpose of the speech was not only to familiarize himself to the American

Rhetorical Appeals In 2008, the Presidential Election came but with a change “for a national evolution (even revolution).” It was between two strong competitors; Hilary Clinton and Barak Obama; both offered a new change for the presidential title. Toni Morrison, a professor at Princeton University, wrote a letter to Senator Obama in hopes of gathering supporters by using logos, pathos and ethos to convince voters to vote for Obama as president. While introducing the concept that neither race nor gender matters when choosing a fit candidate, Morrison strengthens her argument by addressing the opposing side and making a logical argument , As she describes her thoughts towards Senator Clinton, Morrison says “that no liberal women has ever ruled in America.” This builds on her argument because all people reference the superior as “The Man” and some still over look women. Even though being a women and being married to a former President, Bill Clinton, gives Hilary Clinton an advantage for the candidacy, people still weren’t going to vote for her because of her gender and how she’s more stringent than former presidents.
Mitt Romney and the Republican Platform 2012 This past August, the Republicans gathered in Florida to conduct their National Convention. It was at this convention, that Mitt Romney, former Governor of Massachusetts, accepted the Republican presidential nomination. The delegates of the party dedicated the days to expressing their views on America’s progression and how Mitt Romney will be able to improve the Nation. Romney, being the spokesperson of the party, clearly reflects the Republican Platform in his speech by integrating the party values of government reconstruction, becoming energy independent, and maintaining the traditional marriage concept. In his speech, Romney reiterated what the Republican Platform stressed so heavily, “restore
Will the Real Wikipedia Please Stand Up? by J. P. Mroz I: The Stakes The events that served as a catalyst for this article can be traced back to early last summer, when Jim DiEugenio, as a guest on Len Osanic‘s Black Op Radio (show #430, July 2, 2009), extended a collective challenge to David Reitzes, David Von Pein, John McAdams, and Gary Mack: ―I will debate any part of my Bugliosi review to any one, or any more than one of them. ... Let‘s see if their arguments will stand up.‖ The gauntlet was thrown. Eventually, after several weeks, John McAdams alone (and undoubtedly to the surprise of some) brazenly dared to reach down and pick it up. The actual debate, which consisted of a well-planned format that traversed twenty key points of
