Information Provided A CHP officer was following a truck on the freeway and noticed a small amount of smoke coming from the back of the trailer. After the truck pulled over the officer and the driver examined the outside of the trailer and noticed a small amount of clear liquid leaking from the back of the trailer. The driver checked the shipping papers and the only hazardous material listed was one 35 gallon drum of hydrogen peroxide solution, 35% concentration. They open the trailer and find the drum of hydrogen peroxide upright next to several pallets of corrugated fiberboard packing material. It appears that one of the pallets was chafing against the side of the drum and had worn a small hole in the side of the drum near the bottom. The trailer has a wood deck and the pallets are wood.
