In reality, he should also be remembered as a publisher, politician, religious man, philosopher, entrepreneur, writer, and educator. He began working as an apprentice for his brother, James Franklin in his printing company. Franklin started a printing business of his own and then later assisted many other businesses with their ventures.
Why was Richard Arkwright so successful? Richard Arkwright, one of thirteen, was born in Preston, Lancashire in 1732. However, Richard’s family were not as well off as he would later be, so much so, that his parents could not even afford to send him to school. Instead, Richard was taught to read and write by his cousin. Childhood In his early years, Richard was an ambitious man, with a desire to run his own company, which he pursued, as in 1762; Arkwright began a wig making business.
Brown was born in 1800 in Torrington, Connecticut to an extremely religious and abolitionist family where he first began forming his anti-slavery views. For most of his life, Brown and his large family, he fathered twenty children, moved around the country settling in various states such as Ohio, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and New York where he held several odd jobs but never became financially successful. However, his lack of funds did not impact his support for the abolitionist movement. He helped finance anti-slavery publications, gave land to fugitive slaves, participated in the Underground Railroad made famous by abolitionist and former slave Harriet Tubman and even took in black youth to raise as their own. In 1851, he also helped establish the League of Gileadites, an organization that worked to protect escaped slaves from slave catchers.
Proof was discovered only recently, when an old black and white picture of a family reunion was discovered. The only known picture of Ruth’s mother shows her holding her child. The reason hardly anything is known of Babe Ruth’s family and childhood is because he barely had either one. At a very young age, Ruth was sent away to St. Mary’s Industrial School for Orphans, Delinquent, Incorrigible, and Wayward Boys, where he would spend the rest of his time until he turned 18. No one knows why he was sent there, but it seems like his father took him there voluntarily.
