“Change Bring Opportunity. Embrace It” Good morning/ afternoon teachers and fellow students. Today I will talk about change. What is change? As we are aware, change is something inevitable and unavoidable, ; furthermore change is constantly taking place in our lives in spite of positive / negative impacts it brings upon us. To support my understanding of change I will be referring to three texts; the film “Looking for Alibrandi” written by Melina Marchetta and directed by Kate Woods, the poem “The Door” by Miroslav Holub and the film “Fantastic Four” directed by Tim Story. From these three examples explore certain concepts and significances in embracing change through recognizing and seizing opportunities that comes with change. Therefore, “Change brings Opportunity. Embrace It”. From the film “Looking for Alibrandi” we see the concept being demonstrates through growing up. In this we see Josie deals with many issues in her life such as falling in love, family problems, the struggle for independence and social acceptance. Josie is confronted by self-insight and personal freedom when her absent father, Michael Andretti, enters her life. They both want nothing to do with each other. Josie hated her father for being a coward and Michael did not want a complication in his life. Their perspectives of each other had change when Michael helped Josie out of a threating legal suit. They both had a change in their life when they were interacting with someone they never knew before. They both embraced changed by spending time with each other. The second perspective of change that I will be talking about is “The Door”. In this poem Miroslav Holub explores the concept of change by recognising the importance of change and accepting the endless possibilities that we may find on the other side. He is commanding us to initiate change by symbolically opening
