The name of the film I have chosen for my essay topic is called “The Notebook”; it’s a romance film based on the novel with the same name by Nicholas Sparks. The story is narrated though the aged male main character reading a “tale” from his “story book” to the aged main female character with memory loss problems. The “story book” is his journal and the “tale” is their love story. This film is really unique to me, because first it’s very well presented and the love story has deeply touched me. Secondly, the unique way in the film was narrated to the audience, and also, the way the film explored the theme of a rich girl falling in love with a poor guy. In order to gain better insight into the work, I have watched the film numerous times to make sure no details are missed. I also searched the author online to learn how he was inspired to write such a novel, and also researched the time period in which it was written to find possible links between the themes or values that were seen in the film can be unique to that particular period. The direction I will pursue is to use what was presented to me in the film and what I have gotten from researching to help support my thesis of reading proves to the audience that the main characters both really loves each other and or enforces the idea that they
