Biography of Pablo Picasso Pablo Picasso was an interesting man. He is the most famous artist of the 20th century. He was famous for creating thousands of works of art. His works were not limited to paintings he also created sculptures, prints, and ceramics using all sorts of materials. Picasso was a pioneer when it came to drawing. His drawing changed as time passed each new idea brought him attention from the people. Pablo was born on October 25, 1881 in Malaga, Spain. His parents Jose Ruiz and Maria Picasso were also artists. Instead of taking his father’s last name, Picasso took his mothers last name. Picasso was soon an artistic prodigy. When he was 14 years old he finished the 1-month qualifying examination of the Academy of Fine Arts in Barcelona in one day. He showed his passion and skill for drawing at an early age. He received training from his father Jose Ruiz. Picasso’s paintings were inspired by a lot of the major events that took place in his life. Very important inspirations to Picasso’s paintings were the women in his life. He had many lovers throughout his life. In 1917 he married Olga Khokhlova. She was of high society and enjoyed formal events. The two argued a lot. In 1921 they had a son named Paulo. Picasso’s newborn baby inspired him and his imagery turned to mother and child themes. In 1927 Picasso met Marie-Therese Walter. She was a 17 year old girl and they were secretly seeing each other while Picasso was still married to Olga. Soon Marie was pregnant and Marie found out about this. Picasso and Olga separated but they remained married so she would not receive half of Picasso’s wealth. Picasso later found another woman named Dora Marr in 1936. She documented Picasso’s painting of Guernica. She was Picasso’s constant companion and their relationship lasted 8 years.
