The best things in life A wealthy man around his late 30s spent everyday confined to the walls of the office, everyday holidays and weekdays meeting up with clients. All was done in the name of providing the best for his family. Money, clothes, money, schools, money, cars and just money. To him, money was the best thing in life. With money, you could do just about everything. Perhaps fate was jealous of him, for he fell during the height of his success. He lost all he had in just a blink of an eye. He turned, from a wealthy business man into a poverty-stricken man, overnight. Slowly, he learned to adapt to his new life where he did not had a lot of money. Over the years, he began to understand that money was not the best thing in life. Money could not bring joy to the heart nor could it bring true happiness. To him, the best things in life were watching his children grow up and being able to wake up everyday and smell the aroma of fresh coffee brewed by his wife. Those small things were enough to make him content and happy. Are we like the wealthy man, thinking that money is perhaps the most important thing in life? Is money the best thing in life? What are the best things in life? That is an unanswerable question. People have differing views on the best things in life. It depends on what we are seeking. Some may seek something that can bring fame, wealth and some are just content with things that can make them happy in their everyday life. To me, laughter is one of the best things in life. Not money, not possessions, just laughter. Who doesn’t enjoy a good laugh? As long as the joke isn’t at someone else’s expenses. Young or old, rich or poor, we all laugh. Be it fits of giggles or gales of laughter, laughing makes us feel good and at ease. A sincere or joyful laughter is contagious as it makes the people around you laugh too. A good laugh that makes us
