Human brain is a powerful machine, capable of venturing into unknown realms of life and come up with several new achievements. It can reason, judge, think and argue, both logically and emotionally. It has helped man survive through time, enabled him to conquer the world and extend boundaries to outer space, taken him through phases of industrialization, technological progress and globalization. But today, technology is changing the way human brain works, and it comes at a price. Modern advancements in field of science provide us with solutions to each and every problem we face. It helps to bridge the gap between what human brains can achieve and what technology can accomplish, be it the complex mathematical models or the abstruse genetic algorithms. Today, we have pills, drugs and other pharmaceutical products to enhance both our brain and brawn, stimulate ourselves to do tasks or accept challenges beyond human capability. Technology promises us comfort, ease of access of goods and faster delivery of services, but overuse and exploitation of technology has its baleful effects. We tend to be indolent and develop apathy towards processing our brain. We look up for medication online. Before analyzing a given situation or comprehending a problem, we seek the help of the internet. Social networking sites have only made us even lonelier, despite the fact that we can boast of having myriad friends. Technology is like a well. If we are into it, we seldom want to look outside. Our thought processes are impaired. We are bounded by few rules and certain stereotyped solutions. Surrounded by gadgets that promise to accomplish every task within nanoseconds, the plasticity of our brain has been lost.
