Race relations expanded in a deceiving manner as the white Americans started to move western America and ran into Indian communities on the way. At this time Indians have never seen a white or black person, the Natives considered them as a threat. In addition, the Americans would consider the Indians useful because they would run into many problems along the way. In the late 18th century, after the accomplishment in the revolutionary war, most native Indians and African-Americans were denied most civil and political rights. During this era many outcasts such as the African-Americans and native Indians tried to rebel against the Americans. Jackson contributed to the race relations problems by putting an ad to the public that one of his slaves (Mulatto Man Slave) ran away to freedom and he offers a reward of fifty dollars and in additional three hundred dollars for lashes at his back along with the return of the slave. I’ve to assume that many towns’ people have seen this ad in town along with the slaves. I’m sure the slaves felt more remorse now as they tried to escape there were rewards if found. Slaves who were found and returned were most likely killed of tortured. (Page 254) it stated that Andrew Jackson had roughly hundred to mid-hundred slaves in lifetime, and Jackson provided food and housing. In Jackson wasn’t the only person putting these flyers out to the public which possibly hurt the whites when the civil war came. The whites resented the blacks and us getting killed. The union was losing, but after all the things the whites have done to the slaves, thousands of slaves wanted to fight for the Union, one the more famous was the 54th regiment. In conclusion, whether it was moving west to establish colonies on the other side of North America or domestic colonies that had Africa-American slaves, race relations impacted the white Americans greatly in the late 1700’s and early
