Speer had an extremely strong connection with Heinrich Tessenow and, although Tessenow himself never agreed with Nazism, a number of his students did, and it was they who persuaded Speer to attend a Nazi Party rally in a Berlin beer-hall in December 1930. Thus it can be determined that although Speer did not have

The time the novel is set in has an impact on the relationship as well since Friendship is a strong issue in the novel, and a lack of it. Even Slim finds it "funny how you an' 'im string along together" talking about George and Lennie. The boss thinks George must be "takin' his pay" (Lennie's) because he "never seen one guy take so much trouble for another guy".

The Old Man Warner says, “Nothing but trouble in that, pack of young fools.”(Jackson) He is referring to the other villages that have abolished this tradition. He also states that it is the seventy-seventh time he has attended the lottery, as if to say it has been around for a long time and will continue to be around.
