One of the primary goals of the modern Chicanos has been to voice the disparities between their upbringings versus the more privileged Anglo-Saxon experience. Another large focus of the authors in this movement was to inspire members of the Chicano community to be more active in politics, so that they as a group could have a larger voice when addressing the needs of Mexican American community. A la Aztec Angel begins with the speaker saying “I am an Aztec Angel/criminal/of a scholarly society,” asserting the early in the poem that the speaker feels
Include any important potential economic, social, or political pressures, and exclude inconsequential facts. | Law enforcement officials have the responsibility to determine if the offense is grave enough that it requires apprehension of the offender based on probable cause. In this case however, the individual was driving under the influence so he is risking the lives of those around him and the he is also putting his own life in danger. He is also breaking the law, morally and ethically, the individual should immediately go to jail but there must be a trial first. The officers must have enough probable cause or sufficient evidence to validate the arrest of the offender.
On the other hand Toni Frissell’s desire was to move from fashion and society pages into the “hard news” of the front pages. She wanted to prove to herself that she “could do a real reporting job.” She pursued wartime assignments that usually had to do with creating images to support the publicity of her subjects. Esther Bubley focused mainly on the American home front as the nation mobilized for war. She preferred to focus on average Americans not just on military and political events overseas. Therese Bonney, Toni Frissell, and Esther Bubley all captured great images of World War II to help show us what really happened and how life was for the people during the
Acts of Vigilantism Luis Hernandez and the Suspected Car Thief Chris Soriano Do you think the individual made the best decision possible given the circumstances? In the Luis Hernandez case, I feel that he was trying to do the right thing for everyone within the community. He only meant to hold the thief there until the police arrived. Since things got out of control, Luis felt threatened (I’m sure) so he did what he believed was the right thing to do. He could have gotten hurt or possibly even killed in this incident.
I am against the murdering of innocent people. The cartels kill people to prove that they have all the power and they are unstoppable. What if you were a resident to a Mexican city and you would be kidnapped and then tortured till death? That is what these people are facing with these drugs cartels. No one should have to go through this.
The use of bait cars in our community have been a problem. Criminals want to say that it is entrapment. I feel that if you brake the law, you’ve done wrong. The time, day, or even the situation should not be looked at, but the crime that was committed. It should not matter if I left my keys in the car, or if the police left their keys in a bait car, if stolen it is wrong.
With reference to Singer’s statement that, “… prevent evil… without sacrificing something of comparable moral significance”, in as much as the act of helping a friend who is suffering in a critical condition is morally good, in contrast, it is morally wrong to rob people at gun point. It would be sacrificing something of comparable moral significance for another. In other words, it is wrong to do a wrong action because of a right one. Singer also emphasizes the fact that you must be in the position to help. I think is a plausible idea since you cannot give what you do not have.
Labeling a particular crime as special or different does not deter criminals from their true intention. If we place a "special" label on certain types of murder, rape or vandalism we are not preventing the hate that is the motive for such crimes. This is not the true goal of society. Helen Dodge makes a compelling argument to shun the members of such hateful communities in her article "Special Crimes Need Special Laws", when she says that the public should band together against such forces (Dodge 140). However, even she had to admit that these special laws won't deter the criminals who practice these violent acts.
Harry Williamson Response Paper Letter from a Birmingham jail In the article Disagreements About Civil Disobedience Divide America's Anti War Movement we are presented with several views of civil disobedience present in todays society. The sole goal of these organizations is to end the war in Iraq because the members believe what is happening overseas is unjust and immoral. The feud between the organizations is simple; what are the best steps to help end the war? The cultural relativism aspect of this situation is that America (our current day society) wants war with another country, these two organizations are attempting to change that view. On one side you have people like Patrick Reinsborough who is an Organizer of Direct Action Against the War.
Every Muslim goes through this problem in his/her life. In this research paper I will be discussing the world’s attitude towards the Muslim community and how they deal with these crises. But we must remember that it is not always the Muslims who face identity crisis. Anyone who has been previously colonized has to deal with this problem. This happens mainly because the imperial politicians try to create identity problems and use it as a weapon against the colonies.
