Through these new techniques, I have learned to deal with stress well. Through meditation I realized that I can truly relax in an amazing way. It especially helps get in touch with your body. Just being in a quiet, secluded area, trying to “stretch it all out” and get over all the stressed helped dramatically. It was a new technique that was very easy and relaxing.

Reading over these practices helped me gain some insight regarding my own wellness and the wellness of young children. Everyone could benefit from completing this Self-Inventory chart. When it came to some areas of the Self-Inventory for Wellness Practices regarding myself I was pleased to be able to answer most of the areas in a positive way. However, I am definitely slacking in some of the areas.
My ideal thoughts about a nursing home were that it would be quiet, and kind of depressing. But when I got the real perspective, it was light and a pretty fun atmosphere. I did receive some insight on the nature vs. nurture debate and came to the conclusion that the nature part of it is that the patients know that they are losing their independence. But the nurture part is that the nurses try to give them back their independence by assisting them and making them feel worthwhile. After my experience, I learned that even though they may be old, they are still young at heart.

The main goal working as a human service worker is helping adolescents control their anger management by reducing their physiological arousal as well as their emotions that are the root cause of their anger. A human service worker is unable to help change or help an adolescent avoid what causes their angry behavior but to help the adolescent gain control of their actions (Hall, 2008).
