Higher the Bar for Abortion Rights Jessica Hawkins Composition Class Instructor Jodie Brown Due September 29th, 2012 The United States of America should higher the bar for Abortion. A woman should not be allowed to kill her unborn baby under just any circumstance. An estimated 115,000 babies are killed every day due to Abortion Rights. (Loxafamosity Ministries, 2012) Though abortion is illegal in most states it’s still being done. As a country we all need to agree that under certain cases abortion should be considered, but other than that it’s homicide.
So if one has an abortion it is considered murder. On the other hand, pro abortionist believe that fetus is not dependant on the mother until it is born. The fetus is connected by the placenta, and is only separated at birth, so it is not murder. The flaw in these arguments are, when do we call a fetus a person? From a religious standpoint they believe that when the fetus arrives it is a person.

Many of the arguments made by the pro-life team take a moral, ethical, or religious standpoint in their persuasion of others. In order for us to gain a more objective look at the debate with real-world pros and cons, the moral, ethical, and/or religious arguments will not be covered. Abortion has been a topic of controversy in America for almost two hundred years. The earliest known instance of conflict occurred in 1821 when Connecticut outlawed the selling of poisons used to induce abortion in women (Abortion ProCon.org). In 1845, New York began the trend of slapping legal consequences for women who have abortions.
Approximately 1.3 million unplanned pregnancies end in abortion every year. There are several reasons women choose to have abortions such as fear of having or raising a child, rape, or not having enough money. But whatever the situation, it is the individual woman’s decision. If an abortion is denied, the women would have the child in unsafe living conditions and the child would not get everything he/she needs to live a good life. First Trimester Abortions should not be viewed negatively because a woman's body is her own, circumstances are always different, and a woman has individual rights.

Should Women Have the Right to an Abortion? Abortion is something that women who are pregnant do when they don’t want the baby anymore. Women go to an abortion clinic to remove the baby from their body. There are two groups who have opinions on abortion, they are pro-life and pro-choice. The controversy is that the people who are pro-life say that abortion should be considered murder and everyone has the right to live.
The paper concludes with professional interventions to implement a change for abortion. Background Information on Abortion and its Controversies Abortion is a notorious issue that can cause uproar for many families. Abortion is defined as "The induced termination of a pregnancy before it is capable of survival as an individual" (Frohock 186). When a young girl is thinking about having an abortion, she is making the choice on whether or not to go through with a pregnancy. One of the biggest controversies right now about abortion is parental consent.
Pro-life is the opposing argument to pro-choice, and that abortions should be made illegal like in Northern Ireland unless the mother’s life is at serious risk. Many Religions have the traditional view that abortion is a sin. It is argued that if a teenager becomes pregnant and has an abortion they may come to regret this in later life, because at the time they were only a minor. The argument for Pro-life is a choice by people who feel that it is wrong to take a man life, weather that human has been born or not is irrelevant. Abortion is seen as no different to murder.
