Freedom is the music that not only I, but many others, dance to. A melody so strong that unites us all to acknowledge the beat it sings. And not a song of morbidity forced upon us, but a Song of Glory and Pride that sways us with its beauty of Rights. Freedom, the breath of America, is something that we all should be so grateful for. If you really think about it, we are one of the few countries that have freedom, liberty, and independence.
Authenticity “Authenticity” is a difficult concept to put into words in the music realm because it is not clearly defined. There are so many different ideas about authenticity that we are forced to wonder if it actually exists and if so what is it, exactly. There is a widely used quote that says, “There is nothing new under the sun.” This quote applies directly to how music is made and passed down over time. There is no musician that is completely authentic. “Authenticity” is simply an idea created by society that no musical artist has achieved, artist give their own take on what is happening around them and in the world in general.
Singing, or music in general, is a common means of expression and entertainment. As I see it, music is a universal language, it may be expressed with or without words, by only a tune or a beautiful hymn. It defies the languages that may hinder two individuals from any part of the world (or even universe) from reaching out to each
I feel like I can relate to the different types of music. No matter what I’m feeling, music can speak my words for me. I know that I’m not the only one feeling a certain way. This method can be used in any situation. Music seems to also cheer me up.
Knowing the definitions of pitch, timbre, meter and loudness, to name a few, do not help me enjoy music more than what I already do. Even though Levitin defined music as sound reverberations striking the hearing mechanisms of the ear, he goes too into detail when he further describes music. Levitin also stated that the expert language is too complicated and creates a separation between musicians and other people, which is not justified by the writer in my opinion. If the expert language is too enigmatic, then why go into descriptive definitions? I believe that the writer should have started the book by not defining the countless list of musical terms, but rather, he should have answered his question to the title of the first chapter: What is Music?
When Henry David Thoreau says “As for work, we haven't any of any consequence", he means that there is not any work of importance, it is all trivial and meaningless. Henry David Thoreau’s definition of work relies solely upon the fact that it is trivial and meaningless. But that the real meaning of life is not work, but to connect with the universe and nature. 4. In his essay, “Where I lived, and What I lived For”, Henry David Thoreau says, “Shams and delusions are esteemed for soundless truths, while reality is fabulous.” He talks about how much better life would be if people focused on reality rather than their dreams.
This concert performance was actually very fun and light as well as moving because of the variety of pieces played. The children’s pieces and the culturally recognizable pieces made the audience feel light and happy because of their fun. The more emotional and moving pieces were also very beautiful and memorable. The concert was different than I expected because I did not expect to hear children’s music or music that was easily recognizable to me, but I enjoyed it. I hope to be able to attend more concerts like it in the
I never even had the thought of listening to the lawn mower outside, cars passing by or dogs barking at me as “music.” Not saying that I now enjoy listening to random rambunctious noise outside. However, I now pay more attention to listening to my surroundings rather than trying to over power any other noise around me. The National Symphony Concert was as memorable as I had expected it to be, just not in the way I pictured it. Without melodious music, life would be dull and mundane. However, music is all around us in any form.
This album was a Landmark progressive album, and still is considered an outstanding hit. There are several songs from this album that really strike me as creative timeless hits. Three of my favorite songs from this album are; “Breathe”, “On the Run”, and “Money”. Their ability to use new and unique instruments for the time, to convey the storyline of life is incredibly thrilling to me. The songs feel very poetic for me, and have a certain timeless energy about them.
Music is a great thing and can provide some great feelings and really sets the mood in social situations. This is why I believe this premise is plausible; there are many genres in music these days some include rock n roll, pop, jazz and one that really can relate to this argument which is soul music. Soul music bases its lyrics and tunes off of what they believe can enhance and enrich our souls, along with their own beliefs incorporated into the songs with beats that anyone can jam along with. One musician who always has stuck out his head and jammed to his own beat was artist Jimi Hendrix, he was by far in my eyes the best guitarist every to walk the earth. Listening and watching videos of his live performances really got my soul screaming out to his irresistible lyrics, he put all his heart and soul into his lyrics.
