This is how society and the media choose to view the homosexual community. They are also under discrimination in several areas of employment due to homophobia- i.e. fear and prejudice toward homosexual
For example, people get labeled as deviant based on certain behaviors (thief, prostitute, homosexual) and often begin to perform that role based on their “label”. Part II: Stereotype categories and examples Race There are numerous stereotypes
Among these women were prominent queens, prophetesses, and leaders. The Bible is the only book in the world which looks at women as human beings, no better and no worse than men. Genesis 2:18 says “Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” Thus woman was created as a helper for man. Eve was the first woman in the bible. “And Adam called his wife Eve because she was the mother of all living” (Genesis 3:20).
He held one of his wives at gunpoint, and beat his wives often, one instance even being during the week of peace. Him being abusive caused him and his wives not to be as close, as they feared him. When Ikemafuna was stabbed in the back by a machete, he yelled out to Okonkwo to save him but in fear of looking weak (which comes from his issues with his father) in front of his friends he finished off Ikemafuna. When Okonkwo killed Ikemafuna, it had a negative effect on his family and in the long run lead to his alienation from them. Not only did Okonkwo’s outbursts lead to his alienation from his family, but also from his community.

For Many years sexism has played a huge role in the United States, whether it is in the workplace or in private homes. Seixsm is the discrimation based on sex. Seixsm can be compared to rasicm; in both the differences between the two ( or more) groups are viewed as superior to inferior. An alarming number of women soldiers are being sexually abused by their comrades-in-arms, both at war and at home. This fact has received a fair amount of attention lately from researchers and the press – and deservedly so.But the attention always focuses on the women: where they were when assaulted, their relations with the assailant, the effects on their mental health and careers, whether they are being adequately helped, and so on.
Reviving Ophelia Abusive relationships are not only reserved for married couples. There are plenty of teens caught up in these dangerous situations, and like older women, the teenage girls feel they are somehow responsible for the abuse they suffer at the hands of the men whom they love and who supposedly love them. This phenomenon is common among abused women. They make excuses for the beatings they take and their abusers insist it will never happen again. And yet it does the cycle of violence never end.
In his essay, Staples recalls several experiences in which he unintentionally frightened passersby because of his age, gender, and most importantly, race, and what struck me was the effect it had on him psychologically. Despite being completely innocent in the stories he goes on to tell, Staples opens introduces the first woman who felt threatened by him as his “first victim,” and after the experience he describes feeling “surprised, embarrassed, and dismayed all at once” (221) for something he could not control. It is almost frightening how influential others’ perception and expectations of us can be on our own behavior. He mentions friends and relatives who took advantage of the “tough guy” image and ended up being locked away or buried (222), thus setting an example for Staples not to do the same and learn to break away from the misconceptions gathered from his
Women are dehumanized through the media, which objectifies and degrade women, causing them to end up in abusive marriages, in prison, or in the streets. Most ads in today’s media portray women as objects that are desirable for men. For example in the article, Two ways a woman can get hurt: advertising and violence, the author Kilbourne explains that “boys already have the right to ogle, to view women’s bodies as property to be looked at, commented on, touched perhaps eventually hit and raped”(280). Even as this quote might be a little exaggerated, there is still a lot of truth in it. In the article there was a high school girl that explains “the boys call me slut bitch.
Domestic Violence, or spousal abuse, is one of the most appalling crimes in the criminal justice system. Domestic violence involves the abuse of an intimate partner through means of physical, verbal, emotional, or sexual aggression. When most people think of domestic violence, the most frequent thought is the husband, or boyfriend, battering their defenseless female partner. What people fail to realize is that domestic violence does not happen strictly between heterosexual couples, same sex couples can become victims of battering as well. They can suffer much more than heterosexual victims.
