Stony Island Wind Farm Proposal Overview: The proposed Stony Island Wind Farm is to be situated 20 miles west of the City of Watertown, NY, in Lake Ontario. The project will consist of 3 Siemens 2.3-93 rated at 2.3 MW each and 4 Vestas V-90 wind turbines rated at 3.0 MW each, producing up to 19 MW of electricity in total. The Vestas turbines will have a hub height of 80 meters above ground level and the Siemens turbines will have a hub height of 100 meters above ground level. The wind turbines will be erected for the purpose of capturing energy from the wind, a renewable resource, and converting it into clean, useable electricity. This electricity will be transported to end-users via interconnection facilities, including transformers and distribution lines, some of which shall cross Lake Ontario underwater for about 3.2miles. Outline of Contents: 1. PUBLIC/MUNICIPAL CONSULTATIONS 2. WIND FARM DESIGN & ASSESSMENT 3. ELECTRIC GRID/TRANSMISSION 4. ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES 5. LAND ACQUISITION, PERMITTING, FINANCIAL ANALYSIS 1. PUBLIC/MUNICIPAL CONSULTATIONS: Like any other energy project, communities must be consulted and supportive of the wind farm before permits can be issued and the land can be developed. Fictional Power will be holding public informational meetings intended to explain the proposed wind farm on Stony Island, NY. These meetings will inform communities that could be potentially affected by the proposed wind farm and the proposed electric transmission line. In addition to explaining the financial benefits to area communities involved in the plan, Fictional Power is going to be seeking community input regarding issues of local concern. The public need and benefits of the project are best understood with reference to the climate change and energy issues facing the State of New York. Comments/feedback will be considered
