Money, Power, Respect ! Thats all you may know. The thought of failure is never in your mind. Just fail, please ! I'm just begging you . Failing is ok. The American dream is often opinionated . You decide whether you've reach success of not. Throughout the essay I will touch base on 3 different pieces of literature about the american dream. “The pursuit of happyness” is about a man who had to go through lots o failure to get where he wanted to be. “Right to fail” by William Zinsser is about a man who thinks failure is acceptable. “Money” by Dana Gioia Is about money changing people and their views of others. Chris gardner believed his dream was obtainable and did everything possible to get to it. Throughout the movie Chris and his family had many setbacks. His wife didn't believe Chris would get to where he wanted to be in life so she left him. She believed money was everything, to chris it was but just feeling happy was his biggest accomplishment. “You got a dream, you gotta protect it” only means if you feel it then go and get it don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t. At the end of the movie when Gardner finally got his job all he could say was “This part of my life, This part right here ? is called happiness”. He showed that even though the struggle is sometimes hard if you feel successful in what you do then you have reached your American dream. In the Right to fail written William Zinsser believed the dream was attainable and that you could fail while trying to get there. Society basically makes the impression on people that failing is bad. Failing isn’t bad at all. You may need to fail just to see where you went wrong. In fact many successful people have failed in their lifetime but still reached the dream. Zinsser stated “ Don’t be afraid to fail”, if more people weren’t afraid of failure maybe reaching the dream wouldn't be so hard. Fail one time
