Uniforms help students in school academically and socially. It can be beneficial to parents as well; they do not have to spend as much money on school apparel. On the other hand, many people disagree with having school uniforms, saying that it doesn't give the student the right to express their individuality. However, I think uniforms build a sense of discipline and unity and are the appropriate attire to be worn in school. That is why I strongly believe uniforms should be enforced in every school whether public or private.
We should be there to learn, not check out who is wearing what. Students shouldn’t even pay mind to that while they’re in school, they need to stay focused. They need to focus on their studies, work, keep their minds on the books and not fashion. Next, uniforms are much less expensive than casual clothing worn by teens. Some schools provide programs where kids can receive the uniforms at little or no cost.
If all of the students on campus look the same, it is hard to distinguish among the many cliques and/or gangs; and anyone who doesn’t belong on campus would easily be identified. PHS commentator Melissa Nitsch says “when everyone looks alike, there is less risk of being caught in gang fights for wearing the wrong color. With uniforms, no one is killed over a pair of Nikes or a Starter jacket.” Basically, the idea here is that if every student is wearing the same thing, fewer fights will occur. On another note, if all the students looked the same, they wouldn’t be able to bully each other on who is up to date with the latest fashions and who isn’t. You wouldn’t hear students bashing other students because “her skirt is from Wal-Mart.” Supposedly, uniforms in schools emit a feeling of unity and pride amongst the students and gets rid of the pressure of “fitting in” with everyone else.
This is important because no matter how the children are – rich or poor; healthy or unhealthy; fashionable or non-fashionable – we will all fit in together, we will be less distracted from our school work towards our fashionable clothes and we will stress less about what to choose to wear to school. To begin with, school uniforms will help us as students to all fit or blend in together. If we do not have any school uniforms, we will have the choice of what we wear to school. If someone is rich and another is poor, it most likely that the rich person will wear rich clothes and the poor person will wear poor clothes. As a result of this, the rich person might be the most popular person who is wanted by everyone, while the poor person is bullied, made fun of and left out by everyone.
Uniforms in school, right or wrong? A lot of schools in the United States wear uniforms to school. Some schools think it makes everyone look the same, therefore no one has to feel different; others think it shouldn't matter. This essay will explain the good and bad of wearing uniforms in school. Students that attend schools that choose to wear uniforms have the advantage of looking identical, therefore no one gets bullied due to their economic status.
Students who wear uniforms are more likely to not get in trouble in school. They would pay more attention and listen to the teachers. Moreover, “the U.S. Department of Education maintains that mandatory use of standardized dress reduces violence within the school” (Asaff). A second advantage of school uniforms is the cost of clothing. With a uniform policy, there would be no pressure to buy expensive, “in” clothing.
There is no reason for public schools to force students to wear these uniforms. It is sensible for schools to be able to make dress codes, but telling students they have to all dress the same is absolutely ridiculous. There are many reasons to prove why schools should not make their students wear uniforms. Instead of being seen as an individual, these students are seen as just another kid in a uniform attending school. The United States is supposed to be a country of freedom and individuality.

Many high schools choose to have uniforms so that students can focus more on school academics and not in the way they look or dress. Schools try to do what’s best for the student, not for punishment; without all of these rules, what can I school do to help out their students education and future? School uniforms are to be used to limit skin exposure and anything gang related to prevent anything that might harm students or symbolize anything unsafe.
With students not having to worry about their looks, fitting in not longer becomes the main worry in kid's lives. School uniforms may also provide a way out for poor children who otherwise couldn't keep up with the trends and would face ridicule or pressure from other children. * On the same note, while the initial investment to get school uniforms may be high, children can then wear the same outfit without having to worry about owning a large change of clothes. Uniforms are usually made out of durable, easy-to-care for materials that do not require frequent replacement.
