Some people experiment with prescription drugs and other legal drugs because they think they will help them have more fun, lose weight, fit in, and even study more effectively. Legal drugs, such as prescription drugs can be easier to get than street drugs: Family members or friends may have them. But prescription drugs are also sometimes sold on the street like other illegal drugs. Some people also believe that legal drugs are safer and less addictive than street drugs. After all, these drugs are drugs that moms, dads, and even brothers and sisters use. As far as prescription drugs or OTC drugs, they are only safe for the person who actually have prescriptions for them or who really need them for medical use. People that take legal drugs think they are not doing anything illegal because these drugs are legal or are prescribed by a doctor. But taking drugs without a prescription – or sharing a prescription drug with friends is actually breaking the law. I do no think that everyone in our society helps promote drug use. For an example television; they are numerous reality shows out there such as Addiction & Celebrity Rehab. I think these types of shows gives us viewers a front row seat into the struggle, pain and self reflection that is inevitable when dealing with substance abuse issues. It is these types of shows that open many people’s eyes to quickly growing drug epidemic in our society. It is good to know that there are effective treatment programs out there that can help handle people’s addiction. Some of the media out there does promote drug abuse. It makes us feel that we have to look and act a certain way and most teens often fall into the trap and find themselves under pressure. This leads to finding ways to numb their pain and often it is the illegal and/or legal drugs which come to their aid faster then their family. I believe drug use is a social
